Summary This position is located at: Fort Campbell, KY Auto Skills - Air Assault Auto. This position is eligible for the NAF benefits package and leave accrual. Responsibilities Operates platform trucks (tow truck) weighing from 26,000-32,000.00 pounds on long or short hauls throughout the installation, public roads, and city streets in all types of traffic conditions. When operating a long and wide tow truck, incumbent will transport other vehicles, supplies, and various types of materials such as vehicle parts to the Recycling Center and other large items that fit a platform truck to various facilities. Is responsible for loading and unloading cargo and materials, securing and transporting vehicles. The incumbent will ensure vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity by checking cargo papers and by visual observation. Completes paperwork regarding wreck and/or impounded vehicles to include occasionally taking payment of services provided. Assist in preparing for and executing the Abandoned Vehicle and NAF Equipment Auctions. Performs driver's maintenance in accordance with established rules and regulations. Safely operate various equipment and machinery, including roll-back wreckers and forklifts. Maintain a clean and organized impound lot for wrecked vehicles. Respond to calls for recovery in a timely manner. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Qualification Requirements are: Applicant must possess a valid Class D driver's license with F endorsement issued by the state in which employed. Applicant must have 12 months of acceptable work experience operating a vehicle having the capacity and gear ratios of the type(s) of vehicles which he/she may be required to operate. Applicant must possess knowledge of loading/unloading cargo capacity and processing wreck and impounded vehicles. Applicants meeting the following will be considered Highly Preferred: Possess demonstrated work experience operating wreckers and recovering cars and trucks from accident scenes or removing abandoned vehicles from various locations. Possess a valid Class A or B Commercial Drivers License. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.
