We are seeking an experienced Dynamometer Technician (2nd Shift) with a passion for racing to support Racing Teams, Performance Parts, and Electrification (E-motor) in the development and validation of hardware and calibrations for racing, crate engines, and E-motors within the performance envelope.
Collaborating with the GM Racing Dyno/I&E Team group leader and in support of Dynamometer Testing Operations, you will work with Racing and Performance Test Engineers to aid in testing requirements to include development work associated with hardware and software changes to optimize performance. Assisting with durability and hot tests of crate engines will also be a part of your team role. Completing test plans while working with engineering teams, mechanical work and maintenance of the test article and test cell, support test setups and removals, and maintain various support equipment in the cells are key. The successful Motorsports Dynamometer Technician understands the purpose, function, and interaction of all test cell controls and equipment as well as the performance goals of the test at-hand, works collaboratively and positively with their peers, ensures the quality and integrity of all data, and always strives to WIN!
What You’ll Do
Champion safety for yourself and others in all aspects of the work
Conduct a wide variety of performance and racing ICE and E-motor dynamometer testing
Collect, review, and validate testing data for accuracy and quality
Work with engineers on updates to new testing procedures, equipment, and method
Advise engineers on updates to new testing procedures, equipment, and methods
Work closely with the Instrumentation & Equipment team to provide information and mentorship relative to test cell status and performance
Apply problem solving techniques to drive continuous improvement

Additional Job DescriptionWhat You’ll Need (Required Qualifications)
2-year associate degree in mechanical/engineering field, or 5+ years of equivalent experience in related field
3+ years of proven ability: install and remove automotive engines in a dynamometer test cell; instrumentation and diagnostics in a dynamometer test cell; engine component installation and replacement; PUMA, INCA, and Indicom Test Bed Systems
Problem solving and analytical skills
Intimate understanding of ICE and E-motor functionality and performance optimization
Strong mechanical and fabrication skills
Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
Consistently demonstrates innovative thinking that is customer-centric
Able to work 2nd Shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
