The Opportunity -

Boeing is taking another bold step in aerospace and advanced manufacturing. MQ28 is the first military aircraft to be designed, engineered and manufactured in Australia in more than 50 years. This unmanned teaming aircraft is Boeing's first military aircraft to be designed and developed outside the U.S and uses artificial intelligence to extend the capabilities of manned and unmanned platforms. This cutting-edge project is aiming to unlock global defence and aerospace opportunities for Boeing and Queensland.

The Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat is a globally-significant program that will deliver a disruptive advantage to support Defence operational capabilities. As we continue to accelerate the development program, and expand the aircraft flight envelope through the test program, we are seeking the very best talent from a diverse range of backgrounds to help grow and contribute to our innovative team.

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) are looking for an Automation Engineer to join our team supporting the cutting edge MQ-28 Ghost Bat program. In this role you will support the establishment and ongoing execution of the future full rate MQ28 production facility. We are looking for someone who will be hands-on in the production process and embrace our company's behaviours.

This role is based at Wellcamp Airport, Toowoomba.

As a AutomationEngineer within BDA, you will

Support transitioning the composites fabrication capability from our Melbourne facility to the new Toowoomba Wellcamp facility;Create documentation, training & best practice material for automated systems.Supports the evaluation of program and project requirements, develops complex automated equipment concepts and designs solutions for the Production System.Influences product engineering design and makes robotics, automation or technical recommendations to support production system activities.Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs.Conduct investigations on manufacturing processes to identify root cause of defects, propose and support corrective action projects.Provide technical guidance, ensuring personnel operate within technical guidelines.Update and maintain materials and process specifications.Ensure compliance to safety, regulatory and engineering requirements.Willing to be hands-on with production equipment to support process development and troubleshooting


About you

To be successful in this role, you will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment and have:

Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering; specialising in Mechatronics/Mechanical will be highly regarded.2+ years of previous experience in automation and/or mechanical systems.Knowledge of continuous improvement principles and practices is highly desirable.Effective communication skills with different stakeholders across the business.Works well with others and encourages team building.Assertive, self-motivated and capable of working with a high degree of initiative.
