I. Position Summary:
Under the supervision of MRI technologists, the MRI Aide will assist the technologist in patient care. In addition, the MRI Aide will assist with clerical and transport duties.
II. Position Relationships:
A. Responsible to: MRI Supervisor and MRI Technologists
B. Workers Supervised: None
C. Interrelationships: Frequent interaction with patients, families, visitors, physicians, nursing staff and other hospital personnel.
III. Responsibilities and Authorities:
A. Performs other duties as assigned by the department's management staff.
B. As patient care and/or Hospital need dictates, both the assigned shift and work station may be changed by the department.

D. Performs essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
E. Key responsibility is to assist technologists in performance of MRI duties. Diagnostic aide will not administer radiation to patient.
F. Assist with patient transport utilizing minimal lift equipment appropriately.
G. Report faulty or broken equipment. Utilizes equipment in a responsible manner.
H. Utilizes RIS/PACS as appropriate to job duties.
I. Checks supplies and keep rooms supplied with necessary items.
J. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
IV. Performance Factors Used to Evaluate Employee:
A. Perform duties in health care delivery to the following patient age categories (circle all that may apply):

B. Provides patient care, i.e., prepares patients for exams by ensuring patient is dressed properly for exam, explaining procedure to be performed, assists patient with completion of needed paperwork.
C. Is competent in the operation of hospital computer systems, PACS, and RIS as appropriate to job function.
D. Demonstrates ability to perform patient transport in a timely manner with patient safety as the uppermost concern. Uses minimal lift equipment appropriately.
E. Demonstrates ability to prepare exam rooms for patient use, including the cleaning of shared medical equipment. Organizes supplies so items are readily available and easy to find.
V. Qualifications:
A. Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
B. Training and Experience:
Previous hospital experience is helpful, but not required. BLS certification
within 90 days of hire.
C. Job Knowledge:
Telephone, transport equipment, PPE, various software programs specific
to the job.
VI. Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
A. Required to lift and transfer patients for transportation and treatment. Must be able to stand for long periods of time as well as push patients in wheelchairs, beds, or stretchers with accompanying medical devices.
