Summary: Under the direction of the Lead MRI Technologist and the radiologists, the Staff MRI technologist performs a variety of technical procedures applying a prescribed magnetic field to obtain high quality images for interpretation by a radiologist. Fulfills responsibilities as an employee of St. Joseph Hospital Services of Rhode Island. Demonstrates clinical expertise/competencies per specialty and/or developmental level.
Licensure: ARRT with Registry in MRI. CPR Certification required.
Experience: One year experience in MRI.
Skills and Abilities:
+ Calibration of MRI units
+ Daily QA testing
+ MRI positioning
+ Utilize a wide variety of technical equipment including computers, radio frequency generators, gradient coils, power injectors, multi-format cameras and other miscellaneous equipment to produce MRI images.
+ Nursing procedures to include sterile techniques and infection control.
+ Ability to start IV administration of MRI contrast.
+ Maintains information confidential (HIPAA)
+ Demonstrated customer service skills
+ Ability to utilize responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural of background, linguistic skills and age of customers
+ Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines
+ Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams
Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements : This position may require duties including lifting and moving patients more than 100 lbs., and requires frequent standing, walking, balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Visual attention to duties being performed and simultaneously monitoring of patient is requires. Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, climbing, twisting, stretching and reaching. Physical ability involves pushing, pulling and lifting more than 50 lbs.
