Position Summary

This position is responsible for ordering of materials, services, supplies and/or equipment, and the follow through with vendors on shipment and delivery. Manage all aspects of purchasing and distribution of maintenance repair parts, operating supplies and services while taking into account the most cost-effective solutions. Work with maintenance team to evaluate and set min/max stocking levels and inventory reorder points. Co-ordinate with Receiving and Accounts Payable departments to troubleshoot any invoice discrepancies Maintain supplier and contractor programs to meet CFIA and other regulatory requirements. Advises staff and/or faculty as to appropriate choices of standard items to be purchased for offices and plant Selects vendors, places orders, and may arrange for service contracts as required. Follows up on orders to ensure that materials are shipped and delivered on promised dates. Maintains records and follow up files of purchases, shipments, and related matters. Processes requisitions into approved purchase orders . Reviews documents and data (e.g. incoming requisitions, past purchases, reconciliations, inventories, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring completeness and accuracy of purchasing process. Responsible for the accurate entry, proofing, maintenance and submission of purchase orders based on customer demand, stock replenishment, product costing, shipping instructions and management direction. Coordinate order status report submissions from suppliers. Resolve changes and discrepancies, and update purchase order information accordingly. Communicate professionally and courteously with suppliers in relation to order processing as required to resolve issues and receive order acknowledgements . Responsible for managing purchase and supply of pallets and other non stock items for production use. Responsible for complete inventory count of all maintenance stock annually plus daily cycle counting. Manage the organization and general cleanliness of maintenance stock room. Responsible for tracking, meeting and reporting a previously established budget for Maintenance Department and supplies on a daily/weekly/monthly basis

Essential Requirements

Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred in related field. 2 – 5 years of experience as an MRO/OGS buyer in a manufacturing facility or similar environment.   Excellent organizational and communication skills. Strong analytic and negotiation skills. Skilled in continuous improvement and cost reduction. Professional ethics in dealings with vendors and customers. Excellent Computer skills
