Site Name: Japan - Tokyo - Akasaka Posted Date: Oct 25 2024 Job purpose: GSK Japan is searching for a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) within Medical Affairs to support the hepatology therapeutic area. GSK has a growing Hepatology pipeline portfolio and is in the process of preparing for multiple launches in distinct liver diseases. The ideal Medical Science Liaison (MSL) has strong knowledge across liver diseases and can hold robust discussions on science and data with external experts in the field, while collecting valuable medical insights in support of medicine strategy and the execution of asset-related tactics. Through gaining deep understanding of our science, MSLs help support appropriate use of our medicines in patients and identify data gaps to inform future data generation needs. This is a great opportunity to accumulate experience in Medical Affairs with potential for growth in the organization. Through in-field scientific engagement with healthcare providers and external experts, the MSL fosters a more educated healthcare environment by: 1. Communicating their deep knowledge of GSK data in the context of overall patient care to ensure evidence-based understanding of the science behind GSK medicines 2. Gathering valuable insights on GSK products and services, and on medical and scientific information to better understand patient needs and evidence gaps Key responsibilities: Engage in one-to-one scientific dialogue with external experts around GSK’s hepatology assets in line with GSK Code of Practice and local laws and regulations. Support GSK study teams by providing scientific expertise as required to investigators and staff engaged in GSK-supported clinical trials Act as an expert speaker at scientific events. Respond to unsolicited requests for Medical Information from healthcare providers in a fair, factual, balanced, and scientifically rigorous manner via the appropriate and preferred channel. Act as the interface between the professional healthcare community and the internal Medical & cross-functional team to bring in value-added insights that inform Medical, Commercial, and Research & Development strategies and tactics. Foster a collaborative working relationship with Medical Representatives and Commercial colleagues. Partner with matrix colleagues (e.g. Sales, Marketing, Market Access, etc.) to ensure strategies and business plans are both patient and business focused, while adding value to external experts Disseminate important safety information to healthcare professionals Provide scientific education training for business partners such as Medical Representatives by being the local scientific expert for a medicines in hepatology Maintain a level of expertise in the evolving scientific / therapeutic area and in competitor medicines and vaccines Attend scientific meetings and congresses to keep abreast of the evolving science in hepatology and to debate and discuss the science with external experts Fully understand and comply with GSK standards and policies and with local codes of practice, guidelines and laws to ensure all requirements are met. *Future scope of job and working location will be determined by company. Ability to translates complex science into simple messages. Solid grounding in clinical, medical and pharmaceutical science with the ability to rapidly assimilate specific and detailed knowledge in these areas. An understanding of clinical development, and statistical design and analysis. Effective networking and collaboration skills to achieve business results. A sense of curiosity and a passion for continuous learning and development.
