We are looking for a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Rare Diseases who is agile with a drive to build strong lasting relationships and who has an enthusiastic innovative mindset to come join our fantastic Medical Immunology Team, to be based in Spain (Madrid). The area to cover will be Madrid, Galicia, Asturias and Cantabria.

 

About the role

 

The MSL role is a field-based scientific expert within Rare Diseases and includes scientific discussions and presentations as well as responses to unsolicited questions. Core content of these discussions will be topics of unmet medical needs which are of scientific / developmental importance to UCB in immunology. You will be the leading local scientific expert for UCB in the therapeutic area.

You will also be involved in feasibility processes around new clinical studies and will be the primary contact person for investigators interested in investigator-initiated research, donations, grants, etc.

You will be responsible as well for developing and executing the medical content of the local ecosystem plan, building local medical plans, conducting advisory boards and arranging scientific symposiums.

 

Who you’ll work with:

Reporting to the Medical Lead, you will be part of a team of 5 colleagues, 3 MSL and a Medical Solutions. As the MSL Rare Diseases you are the scientific discussion partner that interacts with national and international Thought Leaders (Key opinion leaders: KOLs), and other healthcare professionals (HCPs) at various phases of the product life cycle. You work externally and internally, and closely with an integrated team across functions.

 

What will you do:

You will identify and manage the key scientific and medical influencers based on local ecosystem dynamics.You will explore and identify new sources of patient value (innovative solutions and services) by placing the holistic disease burden of people suffering a neurology rare disease, Myasthenia Gravis (MG) high on health care´s agenda.You will manage and generate product/ disease state data (Phase III/IV, IIS, audits, real-world evidence etc.).You will partner with key clinical KOLs, payers, patient organizations and patients to advance medical initiatives, in defined clinical practice areas, to drive optimal patient care.You will share insights, innovation opportunities and patient needs internally to the patient-value units.You will drive development of real-world evidence in the local ecosystem and leverage the value of UCB solutions for patients to medical and payer communities.

 

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

MSc. within field of Life Sciences.Excellent communication/presentation skills, in Spanish and English (written and spoken).Work experience as MSL Rare Diseases and launch experience is a huge advantage due to the seniority of the role.Proven track-record having worked with biologics within neurology rare diseases and preferably neuromuscular neurology in MG.Business acumen with a good understanding and holistic view on the healthcare ecosystem.          Influencing skills, by building trust, staying consistent and being assertive in a considerate way.Great project management skills.
