Operations Training provides approximately 350 individual courses focusing on: safety, skill refreshers, induction of new hires and promoted employees. The Safety & Emergency Response Training Unit develops and delivers training programs in the areas of occupational and environmental safety, security awareness, fire prevention and evacuation, and emergency response/ employee preparedness. The unit is responsible for helping NYC Transit's management meet the standards set by OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
POSITION IS OPEN ONLY TO CURRENT MTA/NYCT EMPLOYEES IN THE TITLE OF MAINTENANCE SUPERVISORS, STATION SUPERVISOR, TRAIN DISPATCHER OR TRAIN SERVICE SUPERVISOR.
Responsibilities:
The training unit is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic supervisor to become a Safety & Emergency response trainer. The selected candidate will be responsible for the development and delivery of training programs for the Safety & Emergency Response Training Unit. These programs include, but are not limited to: fire safety, passenger evacuation, respirator certification, first aid, CPR, AED, confined space, hazardous waste, and other mandated training.
The selected candidate will also be responsible for supervising and instructing students in Environmental and Occupational Safety; developing and writing lesson plans; and maintaining training aids and associated safety training equipment. The selected candidate will be attending vendor training, and performing administrative tasks and duties as required to meet the unit's business needs. The Safety & Emergency Response Training Unit supports all levels of employees within DOS. The instructor will interact with hourly, supervisory and management employees.
Compensation:
Station Supervisor I Salary Range: $78,686 Entrance Rate (Lateral Transfer)
Train Service Supervisor Salary Range: $89,871 Entrance Rate (Lateral Transfer)
Train Dispatcher Salary Range : $86,067 Entrance Rate (Lateral Transfer)
Maintenance Supervisor (Track/Infra) Level II Salary Range:
1st Step – Entrance $110,381
2nd Step – 7th Month $111,951
3rd Step – 2nd Year $115,888
Maintenance Supervisor Level II (Car Equipment/Signals) Salary Range:
1st Step – Entrance $112,717
2nd Step – 7th Month $114,313
3rd Step – 2nd Year $118,338
Education and Experience:
This position is only open to MTA NYC Transit employees who have a current status in the title of Maintenance Supervisors I, Station Supervisor I or II, Train Service Supervisor or Train Dispatcher.
Desired Skills:
Must possess thorough knowledge of the policies and procedures as outlined in the NYCT Rules and Regulations and the Division of Car Equipment Safety Rule Books.

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience and interview.
