eBay, Inc. seeks MTS 1, Software Engineer in San Jose, CA

Job Duties: Lead the design and implementation of analytics infrastructure to align with the greater vision of eBay platform infrastructure. Analyze product requirements, prepare technical design blueprints, and develop robust, scalable software applications and features using object-oriented programming. Design and implement technical solutions to support the ecosystem of eBay’s analytics infrastructure. Identify and fix performance, scalability, and other software live issues in a very time-critical environment. Ensure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture and tech stack, refactoring, standards and improving build and test systems. Develop automated tests and deliver high quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment. Work with a team of software engineers to design and develop innovative technical solutions. Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and rollout system changes. Establish processes for monitoring frameworks, and analyzing production platforms, Unix servers and mission critical systems with logging/alerting and self-healing integration solutions. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1.    Experience developing Hadoop, Spark, Cloud, and Enterprise applications using Java and Scala (5 years).
2.    Experience evaluating and researching the leading Big Data and Cloud technologies like Hadoop or Spark (5 years).
3.    Experience completing bug fixes and enhancing overall product quality as well as developing and executing unit tests and integration test plans (5 years).
4.    Experience participating in peer reviews, supporting problem resolution and providing improvement recommendations (5 years).
5.    Experience developing and optimizing model layer to store, process, and present data from databases like Postgres or MySQL (5 years). 
6.    Experience designing solutions for distributed file systems like HDFS and data warehousing systems like Hive (2 years).
7.    Experience designing and developing solutions for NoSQL databases (2 years). 
8.    Experience developing RESTful APIs for efficient data querying and manipulation (2 years).
9.    Experience implementing containerization using Docker and Kubernetes to streamline application deployment, management, and orchestration for scalable and reliable production environments (2 years).
 

Salary: $172,931.00-234,850.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
