How you will help us create value together:
As a Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD) Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the Functional Engineering Department. The Functional Engineering department works closely with the Product Engineering Teams to perform on-time analyses. Activities will include maintaining, upgrading, and documenting team processes, and modifying and maintaining previously built MBD models with the emphasis on continuing to mature models. Also, this position will aid MBD engineers in non-time critical modeling tasks. This internship will not have any design engineering responsibility.
This position will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee’s Harbor District. The target start date for this role is Summer 2025 and has potential to be extended into the Fall 2025 school semester. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year.
Basic Qualifications Pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar, from an accredited college or university Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or master’s level student in good academic standing Ability to work independently as well as part of a team towards a goal Excellent organization and time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks Strong written and verbal communication skills Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to be creative and resourceful Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products Preferred Qualifications Previous classroom and/or work experience in one or more of the following areas Undergraduate level dynamics course Graduate level dynamics course or equivalent Undergraduate level vibrations Undergraduate level system dynamics or controls Interest in or aptitude to learn about careers in the heavy equipment industry Experience using Matlab, Python, or other scripting languages Minimal experience with MBD software, like MSC Adams, preferred but not necessary Experience using LaTex for documenting Key Job Responsibilities Maintain, upgrade and document team processes, especially team code and scripts that are integral to team success Modify and maintain previously built MBD models Create simplified dynamics models based on first principles Aid engineers in modeling studies Documentation of engineering related work where required Additional InformationWhat makes Komatsu’s intern program unique?
