Job Description:

The University of Florida Small Animal Hospital is looking for a skilled veterinary technician to join our multi-service team providing nursing support to our specialty services including the emergency and critical care areas.  Staff in this role perform a wide variety of nursing and technical skill and communicate with clients and staff throughout the hospital in our fast paced teaching and learning environment. 

An individual in this position must possess excellent communication skills and be proactive in determining the needs of the hospital.  They should enjoy learning new things and can adapt quickly to a changing environment.  Successful applicants have a good base knowledge of veterinary medicine and express a positive attitude in their daily work, communicating effectively and demonstrating critical thinking and professionalism. 

This is a full-time, benefited position and is considered essential personnel. A post-offer education verification, background check, and health assessment are required.

Normal work schedule is between the hours of 8am-5pm Monday thought Friday, but schedule may change due to shift coverage and may require working earlier than 8:00 am or later than 5:00 pm.  May be required to work weekends or asked to cover other shifts including overnights with adequate notice.  Will participate in holiday rotation schedule for covering emergency needs. Will be part of the Emergency Response Team and is considered Essential Personnel.

Expected Salary:

Credentialed Tech: $20-$25

Non-credentialed Tech: $18-$22

Minimum Requirements:

Vet Tech I (non-credentialed): High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience
Vet Tech II (credentialed): Credentialed veterinary technician

Preferred Qualifications:

• Credentialed veterinary technician
