We are offering a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Apprenticeship that blends hands-on experience with classroom learning to equip you with the skills to excel in a dynamic, high-tech manufacturing environment.
This is a role that will support our manufacturing site in Bournville (home of Cadbury). Successful candidates will set out on a 4-year journey that will lead to being a qualified, trained and highly skilled Engineering Technician. The apprentice will become part of a collaborative team who will help the apprentice to develop their skills on the job by sharing knowledge, experience and technical abilities, coupled with recognised qualifications and a high-performing international business.
**What to Expect**
This is more than just an apprenticeship—it’s a journey to becoming a highly skilled Engineering Technician in the UK’s largest manufacturing sector. From learning how we wrap 600 chocolate bars a minute to implementing preventative maintenance programs, every day will bring new challenges and opportunities.
**Skills required:**
+ Have excellent analytical skills and enjoy problem solving with a logical and structured approach
+ Have the ability to problem solve and work effectively within a team environment
+ Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
The candidate will be trained in the theoretical and practical aspects of maintenance, relating to the processing and packaging equipment used on site. This may include:
+ Mechanical systems
+ Electrical and process control systems
+ PLC software applications
+ Electro-mechanical design and solutions
+ Electrical wiring, testing and installation
+ Pneumatic systems
+ Process instrumentation
**During your apprenticeship**
Programme structure:
+ Year 1: Alternating 4 week block learning with our training provider based in Aston, Birmingham to them put learning to practice for 2-4 weeks at Bournville Cadbury site.
+ Years 2&3: A mix of on-the-job training – 1 week Block release training with training provider and remainder month onsite at Bournville Cadbury site
+ Year 4: Dedicated to workplace experience and preparation for End Point Assessment
+ Outside of the block training - this role operates on various shift patterns including days and nights (Years 2/3).
You will gain;
+ Level 2 & Level 3 Diplomas in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Mechatronics Maintenance).
+ Core skills in installation, testing, fault finding, and maintenance of high-tech automated systems.
+ A deep understanding of engineering principles, materials, and diagnostics.
+ Behaviours like teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience to excel in the workplace.
**Post Qualification**
+ You will independently operate and maintain at least one process, equipment or systems following autonomous maintenance (AM) standards and use your technical skills to improve line and/or system performance to meet business needs.
+ You will be responsible for repairing and maintaining production equipment to deliver on our safety, quality, cost, delivery, sustainability and morale targets.
+ Key to the site improvement journey, using integrated lean six sigma methodology, you will use your technical expertise to optimise your equipment using AM (autonomous maintenance) and PM (progressive maintenance) standards.
+ Ensuring that safety processes and practices are observed, and that quality assurance activities are performed, you will understand the losses in your production area and work with the wider team to eradicate and maximise performance
**What We’re Looking For**
+ 4 GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in Mathematics, English, and Science (or equivalent).
+ A passion for engineering and a knack for problem-solving.
+ Excellent communication skills and a commitment to learning.
+ Flexibility and a positive, team-oriented attitude.

**Salary on offer is** **£18,000 - £21,000.**
