Multimedia Services Manager

We are seeking a **_Multimedia Services Manager_** who will be responsible for providing leadership, supervisory, and technical skills to oversee the management of AAP multimedia systems and the development of multimedia instructional resources. Provides quality assurance for all multimedia resources, ensuring the production of quality and accessible multimedia instructional resources. The multimedia service manager will design, develop, and integrate high-quality multimedia required for AAP courses, Micro-credential courses, and AAP Marketing.
*All new employees, including hybrid and local remote employees, are expected to attend in-person orientation. Travel is considered local if you are within a 50-mile radius of the standard office location or permanent home location.
**Specific Duties & Responsibilities**
_Performance Management 10%_
+ Supervise multimedia team members (casual, part-time, full-time, and students).
+ Mentor multimedia staff, including helping to allocate team resources and coaching team members to maximum efficiency.
+ Meet regularly with staff to align goals and ensure the team has the necessary resources to achieve them.
+ Evaluate employee performance.
_Design, Development and Implementation 15%_
+ Serve as a member of a course development team, which may include subject-matter experts, program directors, instructional designers, multimedia specialists, etc.
+ Use multimedia design knowledge and experience to create clear and engaging multimedia materials/resources that effectively meet the needs of IRC projects and courses.
+ Design and develop multimedia objects including but not limited to video presentations, 360 video, animations, interactive content, narrated slide presentations, screen captures, podcast recordings.
+ Execute post-production of multiple video projects for inclusion in innovative online learning experiences, including editing, mixing, mastering, and color-correcting video assets.
+ Compress and upload final videos for publication.
+ Interface with online video hosting platforms to deliver media and associated assets.
+ Plan, coordinate, manage and direct details of photo/video shoots with content experts and project leads.
+ Capture footage, direct, edit, and complete videos while coaching talent on how to deliver messages and connect with the learning audience effectively.
+ Develop high quality and cutting-edge immersive media.
+ Apply Universal Design principles, ADA requirements and accessibility standards to multimedia materials used in online courses.
_Faculty Training and Development 10%_
+ Provide professional advice for the use of multimedia in distance education courses.
+ Collaborate with the Instructional Technology Manager to identify and address the needs for Multimedia professional development programming.
+ Provide training that focuses on multimedia tools and techniques as needed.
+ Develop, maintain, and update faculty support resources and training materials about educational multimedia.
+ Support faculty with copyright and fair use guidelines for using multimedia materials.
+ Inform the IRC team and faculty knowledge current regarding advances in media technology and research about multimedia in a teaching environment.
+ Provide one-on-one consultations to faculty members.
+ Develop asynchronous video training resources for faculty.
_Multimedia Systems and Tools 10%_
+ Manages IRC multimedia subscriptions and maintains IRC multimedia equipment and technologies.
+ Document all components, operation, and processes of existing multimedia systems and tools.
+ Provide preventive maintenance and maintain service plans and agreements for multimedia tools and systems.
+ Manage the media repository and portfolios.
+ Research emerging technology, new applications, and online learning tools for further recommendation and implementation.
+ Establish and maintain multimedia development processes that ensure the longevity of instructional content.
+ Manage the captioning service contract and caption all courses in the development process.
_Multimedia Team Lead 45%_
+ Explore current design trends and determine how to translate those trends into a coherent design strategy for AAP courses.
+ Lead weekly Multimedia Team meetings.
+ Participate in IRC Leadership meetings.
+ Serve as the Multimedia project intake manager, overseeing all incoming projects, entering projects into Smartsheet's, balancing team workloads, and assigning tasks to team members.
+ Collaborate with subject matter experts and stakeholders to discuss project details and establish deadlines for deliverables.
+ Own and improve the design roadmap including estimating, forecasting and capacity tracking.
+ Manage multimedia projects by ensuring the multimedia team meet project timelines, identifying dependencies, risks, and obstacles that may impact project timelines and prioritizing as needed.
+ Build and maintain strong working relationships with Program Directors, AAP Leadership, Faculty, and other partners to understand priorities and scope of projects.
+ Manage and track data on projects and usage of multimedia to drive design decisions.
+ Act as project manager and provide expertise as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for special projects.
+ Implement new multimedia formats, technology, and integrations into online learning process.
+ Develop strategic plans for the multimedia team.
+ Establish long and short-term goals for the team and develop strategies to execute them.
+ Provide staffing recommendations and regularly update the IRC director on the team progress.
+ Manage quality control on all multimedia team member projects.
+ Manages project specific budgets and provides information for budget development.
_IRC Marketing and Branding 5%_
+ Serve as the marketing team lead for the IRC.
+ Support IRC marketing and branding efforts with video and working with AAP web designer.
+ Provide oversight over updates for the existing IRC website.
+ Participate in writing content for IRC newsletter and marketing publications.
+ Provide Design oversight for IRC communication materials to support the marketing of IRC services and resources (training documentation, newsletter, email templates, brochures).
+ Coordinate multimedia projects requested by AAP Marketing.
_Special Project Lead 5%_
+ As needed, lead or act as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) on special projects.
+ Participate in collaborative projects at JHU (CMS multimedia platform search committee, ARES, etc.) on a regular basis.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree, with Master's Degree preferred.
+ Five years related technology and supervisory experience.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Masters in multimedia, or related degree.
+ Progressive leadership experience in previous positions.
+ Seven years of in-depth multimedia experience.
+ Five years of project management experience.
+ Experience with Smartsheet, and Panopto.
+ 5 years of in-depth graphic design experience.
+ Excellent graphic and verbal communication skills.
+ Experience with 360-degree cameras and editing.
+ Experience with 360-degree cameras and editing.
+ Experience working with motion graphics, 3D design, curriculum design, and web accessibility (WCAG 2.0).
**Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
+ Ability to apply principles and techniques of multimedia design, simulations, development and their integration and application to a Learning Management System.
+ Proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, InDesign, Audition, Photoshop) Apple Final Cut Pro, and other video and audio editing and compression programs.
+ Experience with managing projects within a project management system.
+ Exceptional judgment, a keen eye for video, and strong creative skills with a focus on creating engaging and pedagogically sound videos.
+ Ability to make both aesthetic and content judgments about video, as well as assemble and edit material to create compelling and visually interesting videos.
+ Strong storytelling skills.
+ Strong post-production experience.
+ Experience with video finishing, including audio editing, audio mixing, and color correction.
+ Experience in producing 360 video projects.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage post-production and publishing of a high volume of content as part of a content production team.
+ Ability to work as a self-starter, to work on multiple projects, and to consistently deliver high-quality media.
+ Capability to interface efficiently with creative/media, instructional design, and technology teams.
+ Organized and proactive nature with exceptional attention to detail in production and post-production processes.
+ Ability to independently identify post-production process issues and help to correct those issues with new workflows and technologies.
+ Knowledgeable of and experience with broadcasting, webcam technology, screen casting and podcasting, servers, streaming audio and video formats and techniques, embedding multimedia content for online delivery, project management software, and ticketing systems.
+ Ability to apply principles of human-centered design to provide online education to persons with disabilities and knowledge of Universal Design principles, ADA requirements, and accessibility standards.
+ Knowledgeable of and experience with copyright and fair use guidelines for using multimedia materials.
+ Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks, and the ability to deal with multiple constituencies concurrently.
+ Must be a proactive problem-solver, have the ability to take the initiative with projects, and the ability to work independently.
+ Ability to acquire, synthesize and share expert professional knowledge of current and emerging instructional technologies.
+ Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills are required to work well with faculty, staff, and vendors.
+ Skilled in organization, leadership, and management.
**Technical qualifications or specialized certifications**
+ Part 107 Certified Drone Pilot.
**Any specific physical requirements for the job**
+ Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand or sit for long periods of time.

Starting Salary Range: $62,900 - $110,100 Annually (Commensurate with experience)
