Job Description **JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE** The Accountant is responsible for applying the principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Municipality Accounting experience required **RESPONSIBILITIES** + Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions. + Produces monthly P&L and balance sheet + Calculates commissions for sales reps monthly + Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures + Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organization’s accounting operation. + Coordinates monthly close process + Participate in internal and external audits + Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions. **QUALIFICATIONS** + Effective written and verbal communication skills + Accurate and attentive to detail + Excellent understanding of accounting principles + Proficient computer (Excel and Word)/ten key skills + Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. **_EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE_** High school diploma with 1-3 years prior administrative experience in a professional office environment **_CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS_** None **PHYSICAL DEMANDS** Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions. **An Equal Opportunity Employer.
