We have just opened an opportunity for a Municipal Credit Analyst to join our team based in our downtown Salt Lake City offices. This person will participate in a broad variety of functions in the Municipal Portfolio Group. Partnering with relationship managers we work to identify opportunities for new investments in municipal credit that provide a solid return for the bank portfolio. This position is also responsible for monitoring a portfolio of credits and updating risk grades as appropriate to ensure risk is being appropriately accounted for and adequate reserves are held. We are looking for an ambitious and energetic individual to join our team.

 

The ideal candidate will have the skills and experience to:

 

Research and analyze municipal credits for purchase by the Bancorporation. Provide recommendations for potential investment/lending opportunities. Become familiar with a broad range of municipal sectors including tax and revenue backed credits. Produce written memorandums outlining quantitative and qualitative analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each opportunity. Monitor investments on an ongoing basis to determine risk grade for each investment and overall suitability for the portfolio. Work with other analysts to support team and department objectives. Interface with relationship managers and other internal and external partners. Contribute to the creation of financial models for the assessment of credit risk. and the valuation of portfolio securities. Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, statistics, mathematics, economics or related field is valuable but an analytical mindset is preferred.   0-2 years’ experience as a financial analyst preferably with a related financial services industry.  Strong attention to detail. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in making appropriate decisions on credits. Basic knowledge of municipal credit markets. Interpersonal, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills. Technical writing and verbal communication skills. PC skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to work with other team members and management. Ability to build strong relationships within the group. Capable of working with a fair degree of autonomy and initiative.
