Museum Associate (AY 25-26 901837)

The Museum Associates Program (MAP) offers Middlebury College students a paid opportunity to develop and lead programming (in the areas of visitor services, interactive close-looking tours, and/or special events) at the Middlebury College Museum of Art. 

This position is compensated at the Level B rate on the Midd student wage scale: $14.43 - $14.86 per hour.

Museum Associates attend weekly training sessions where they study and practice a variety of styles of museum education through object-based learning. Special emphasis is placed on peer-to-peer activities, but faculty members, museum professionals, and other experts may periodically visit these sessions to offer additional context. In addition, students gain useful skills and knowledge in areas that may include research, creative thinking, community building, public speaking, and public programming. Through their insights and work contributions, Museum Associates are invaluable partners on the journey to making the Middlebury College Museum of Art more accessible and welcoming to all audiences. 

 

Core Responsibilities:

Attend mandatory weekly training sessions on Tuesdays during the academic semester.   Time TBD but tentatively from 3:30-5:00pm Complete an additional 1-2 hours of work each week. This work may include completing assigned readings, researching works of art, and preparing for and leading tours.
