Job Summary:
This position will support financial functions for departments within North America Technology (NA Technology). As part of the Portfolio Controller team for NA Tech, this individual will be involved in assisting NA Tech departments with the completion of financial deliverables and compliance to Clarity standards and best practices, contract/invoice processing and resource planning/forecasting. The individual will work closely with technology and project managers to aggregate project portfolio plan and forecast data within the technology department.
This position requires a combination of attention to detail but also the ability to report out at a summary level. Much of the work is deadline oriented and will require a highly organized individual. Analytical skill will be needed to review and understand results, compare results to plans, and determine variance drivers. Investigation into discrepancies will be expected.
This position will also be required to understand established standards/procedures and hold others accountable to assure the accuracy of financial results and compliance to standards.
Job Duties
Work with Tech and Project Managers to ensure the update of resource allocations for all resources within a Technology group to align with both capital and expense projects within the department’s approved budget. Understand project budgets and costs including cost drivers such as resourcing, software, and timelines. Assist Technology team in adhering to standards and timelines related to various Clarity activities including Idea creation for Annual Planning, maintaining projects and tasks as well as onboarding/deactivation of resources in a timely manner. Analyze monthly financial results identifying variances from plan or errors to provide updates to CIOs and tech leads. Work closely with the IT Finance department on monthly reporting and other financial deliverables as well as ad hoc requests for assistance. Participate in annual planning with IT delivery leads, project managers, and IT Finance. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual project portfolio reports in an accurate and timely manner. Support the contract and invoice processes including submission, budget adherence, governance approval and tracking.Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Previous experience completing financial analysis and planning reporting results including providing recommendations based on results.Capable of interpreting and comprehending financial resultsProficient with Microsoft Office specifically ExcelAbility to work effectively in a deadline-oriented environment on multiple tasks, ensuring that due dates and deadlines are met.Must be detailed oriented with an ability to analyze data in a complex environment, with numerous interconnected data sourcesExcellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and to identify priorities and schedule tasks appropriately. Ability to work effectively with internal and external departments/teams and leverage knowledge of others. Familiarity with Clarity, PeopleSoft Financial, Apptio and SharePointKnowledge of insurance operations and project management is a plus.
