NANA SHAREHOLDER COLLEGE INTERNSHIP - NANA Construction HSSE Intern Paid Internship

Job Description

The Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) internship provides NANA Shareholders the opportunity for professional training in various offices throughout NANA’s Commercial Group of companies as it relates to HSSE. This position establishes and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident free, and healthy work environment. Interns will perform assigned duties to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures and standards required for successful performance. May perform duties such as gathering and organizing data to provide information for departmental special projects or reports; basic arithmetic computations; assist in preparing written reports; accompany professional level employees on assignments. Assignments serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to NANA’s organizational structure. Specific activities vary by assignment.

Internships will run from June 2 nd – August 3 rd .

Internship Objectives

Develop working relationships with other internal groups and business leaders to aid in developing and maintaining documentation.

Observes and performs a wide range of typical on-the-job duties within the HSSE department.

Observes and performs various technical, line or staff functions.

Monitors personal performance progress with key personnel and HSSE professionals.

Assist in the development of a strong safety culture within the workforce.

Responsibilities

Applies research techniques and analytical methods to the study of administrative systems, organizational structures, policies, and procedures.

Handles confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.

Assists others with overflow work or special projects.

Assist with the selection and presentation of safety topics for daily and weekly safety meetings.

Inspects or tours organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, unsafe behaviors, recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated.

Assist with developing, reviewing and revising health and safety policies, procedures, programs, and handbooks.

Generate and promote ideas to improve HSSE performance.

Provide assistance in planning and conducting required emergency drills.

Shadow Safety Specialists, Safety Managers and/or Operational staff

The ability to always maintain confidentiality while displaying a professional disposition.

Ability to work utilizing professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of standard office equipment such as a copier, fax machine and phones.

Demonstrated ability to complete work in a timely and accurate manner.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success may also be assigned.

Qualifications

Must be a NANA shareholder. NANA shareholders own stock in NANA Regional Corporation, Inc.

Must be 18 years or older.

Must be currently enrolled in college or a vocational school full-time and have completed one semester of postsecondary education.

Must be able to operate and maintain confidentiality.

Must be tech-saavy and be able to operate proficiently on a computer.

Must have intermediate skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Must be organized and can communicate effectively and professionally; this includes friendly customer service to all internal & external customers.

Previous HSSE exp. or exposure desired.

Preferred Requirements

Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under company vehicle insurance policy is preferred.

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

The position requires reading, detailed work, problem solving, interactions with other companies including other NANA companies, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, will require the employee in the position to manage multiple concurrent tasks, and handle constant interruptions.
