Title:

NASA Launch Range Network Engineer

Work closely with Network Asset Planner and IT Security Lead on day to day tasking and priorities related to engineering and sustaining engineering projects as follows:

Support A&A Process, Lifecycle Engineering, and Mission Support by:

Provide assessment artifacts and their generation as requiredBe available during assessments to field SME related questionsFacilitate/enhance Network Security, Asset and Configuration Management data collectionSupport engineering and sustaining engineering projects as the network engineering and IT Security representativeEstablish networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standardsDevelop and maintain network topology, boundary diagrams, and data flow diagramsDevelop and maintain the master list of ports protocols and services in use on the RMN to de-conflict new systems/devices being added to the Range/environment.Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliabilityMaximize network performance, troubleshoot network problems and outagesSecure network systems by implementing security controls and establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring accessReport network status by gathering and prioritizing informationSupport network related projectsConfigure and install various network devices and services (switches, firewalls, VPN, QoS)Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixesMonitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planningTrack inventory and life-cycle of network equipment, technology refresh, and software supportSelect and implement security tools and procedures as outlined in the system security plansLiaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolutionAssist with preparing Statement of Works and seeking vendor inputProof/sign-off on network design projects to ensure FISMA compliance.Work closely with Operations staff to design and implement technical solutionsLead network testing efforts by preparing plans and procedures, conducting tests, and preparing test reports

Travel

Periodic travel as often as 4 times per year in durations of 2-4 weeks to remote locations is anticipated and required for this position.

Certifications

Successful candidate must possess or obtain upon hire appropriate CISCO and SolarWinds certifications
