What you’ll do

The National Buyer works closely with the Category Manager to develop and implement category-specific strategies, leveraging market insights and customer data to enhance product offerings and drive sales growth, this role also plays a key role in cross-functional collaboration, working with various departments to ensure smooth operations and addressing any issues related to stock management and supplier support.

This role involves coordinating with suppliers, managing stock levels and driving innovation and

continuous improvement in the range and products, along with;

Develop and execute the department strategy & approve department plans

Supplier management; act as the supplier captain for major large cross-department suppliers by negotiating outcomes and ensuring compliance with trading terms and policies

Be accountable for overall profitability within the department

Ensure gross profit meets or exceeds targets

Oversee ROI on capital investments and supplier investments

Collaborate with marketing, merchandise planning, demand planning, and pricing teams

 Facilitate major range reviews involving multiple stakeholders

Who we’re looking for

You will have a minimum of 10+ years’ experience as a Buyer, leading a portfolio that is challenging, evolving and fast paced.

You will be excited to add value to the team and the business. You will be keen to continually improve your offer to make sure it is the best in market and will continually excite the customers.

Degree or Diploma in Marketing/Commerce are an advantage

Proven retail buying experience, preferably in plumbing advantageous

Strong financial acumen, proficiency in financial management, including budgeting, cost analysis, and margin management

Product development, range and pricing architecture highly regarded

Proven leadership capability in coaching, mentoring and developing teams

Be an experienced negotiator, with the ability to manage high pressure situations

Be a strong communicator with an entrepreneurial flair

High energy go-getter.
