National General Adjuster

 

McLarens is searching for a General Adjuster located in the Boston, MA area. The adjuster’s main responsibilities will be managing the resolution of first and third-party claim exposures from both a coverage, investigative and loss establishment perspective. The adjuster needs to be able to work in a collaborative and responsive fashion with varying levels of supervision resolving complex, large loss, and commercial claims. We are looking for an exceptional problem solver, proactive thinker, strong communicator, team player and self-starter. Some travel may be necessary.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Receive/Review new losses Contact insurer/broker/claimant to arrange appointment for first meeting Visit insured/risk to investigate cause/circumstances/extent of loss/damage Personally investigate and determine the extent of damages and evaluate coverage. Timely reporting to clients with content reflecting the requisite comprehension and clarity Ability to maintain diary and respond to stake holder inquiries in a timely/professional fashion Assist large loss adjusters and account adjusters when necessary. Review policy coverage. Raise questions where appropriate with insurers with recommendations of resolution Timely reporting to clients with content reflecting the requisite comprehension and clarity As appropriate, formulate technically precise correspondence specific to Reservation of Rights, Declination of coverage, Denial of liability Ability to maintain diary and respond to stake holder inquiries in a timely/professional fashion Effective claim management skills to liaise with insured/insurer, broker, retained experts, etc. Prepare scope of damage/loss measure/costs schedule Agreed to costs with insured/claimant Bring matters to a timely, equitable resolution in accordance with Coverage/and or Liability findings Other duties as instructed by Leadership including to out-of-territory travel and Catastrophe response as needed

 

Skills & Abilities:

 

Proficient knowledge of Xactimate or other estimating platforms Knowledge of the independent claims adjusting business Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Strong interpersonal skills Analytical ability Ability to plan and prioritize

 

Education & Experience:

 

Preferred: Minimum of 3-4 years of commercial claims adjusting experience. Appropriate state adjuster license as necessary or the ability to obtain a state adjuster license.
