THE ROLE 

Our Power Projects Team is experiencing significant growth, creating an exciting opportunity for you to step up as a Program Manager for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Australia. We welcome candidates to be based in our Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, or Adelaide offices. In this role, you will lead and oversee our dynamic BESS Power Projects portfolio. Your responsibilities will include driving new business, guiding and mentoring delivery teams, and ensuring the safe, cost-effective, and high-quality construction of high-voltage (HV) infrastructure. You will be accountable for meeting client requirements, achieving key performance indicators, and reaching financial targets within Downer's delivery model framework.

Reporting to the General Manager of Substations & BESS, you will also lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team that includes Project Managers, Construction Managers, Project Engineers, and other technical and support staff.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

People Management: Provide coaching and leadership and maintain effective communication channels with direct and indirect reports. Program Management: Ensure the timely execution of all projects, profitability and work quality as per contractual obligations and key performance indicators. Zero Harm: Provide leadership in Zero Harm to ensure a safe workplace across the BESS Program. Financial Management: Monitor revenues and expenditures in operations and projects to ensure the attainment of profit objectives. Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with Downer partners and key clients throughout all project phases, from new business to handover, utilising a positive and proactive approach. New Business: Collaborate with front-end teams and engage with existing and new clients to enhance the BESS portfolio across Australia.

 ABOUT YOU 

Tertiary qualifications in Project Management and or/ Engineering Knowledge and track record of BESS projects. Experience managing major HV/LV Electrical transmission and distribution network design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning is highly regarded.
