Position Summary

A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge skills abilities and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas listed below.

Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values patient/customer focus taking ownership health care knowledge teamwork clinical performance improvement service excellence decision making and critical thinking and patient safety.


Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experienceActive License as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State in  which s/he will be practicing or the state of primary residence if the state is a Nurse Licensure Compact state  BLS certification - American Heart Association Additional certifications may be required based on  population(s) served and services provided

Ability to: 

Deliver excellence in patient care through assessing,  formulating nursing diagnoses and establishing  goals, planning and implementing intervention, and  evaluating patient care outcomes. Read, analyze, and interpret hospital policies and  procedures, professional journals, technical  procedures, or governmental regulations.  Write reports and procedures, and document in the  medical record. Effectively present information and respond to  questions from co-workers, managers, patients, physicians, family members and the general public. Calculate figures and amounts such as weights,  dosages, flow rates, proportions, percentages and  volume.  Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages,  ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and  draw valid conclusions.  Interpret an extensive variety of technical  instructions in mathematical or diagram form and  deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Critically think and problem solve.  Read, write and speak English. Must be able to complete entire program with a perfect  attendance record Must be able to work 3 days per week after completing  first 12 weeks Must be able to work and train on either night or day shifts  including holidays Must agree to terms and conditions of the program

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.  This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
