We are seeking highly motivated Undergraduate and Graduate students seeking semiconductor research opportunities that provide challenging and meaningful work experience to be a part of our 2025 Intern class. These opportunities directly support the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Oh.
This opportunity offers hands-on experience in the fabrication of wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor devices within a cleanroom environment and/or contribution to the electrical characterization of these devices.
The selected candidate(s) will learn essential microelectronics fabrication processes and will be tasked with designing and fabricating devices such as field-effect transistors (FETs) and diodes. In addition, the intern will apply solid-state physics concepts to analyze the behavior and performance of their devices through electrical test data.
Selected candidates will have the opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals, gain hands-on experience, and build their reputation in this high-demand career field.
While prior knowledge of semiconductor physics is not required, the ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong aptitude for learning and applying new concepts in a laboratory setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Provides technical support in engineering, material science, physical sciences, or related field working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement of semiconductor devices.Performs simple routine tasks under close supervision or from detailed procedures. Work is checked in progress or on completion. Technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; non-routine work may be reviewed in progress.Ability to interpret complex information in a non-technical and engaging manner.Identify problematic areas in data and conduct the necessary research to provide a lasting solution.Work Environment:
Location: Onsite at AFRL on Wright-Patterson AFBTravel Requirements: Minimal 0-20%; No planned travelWorking Hours: Standard 40 hours per weekQualifications:
Required:
US Citizen: Must be a US citizen and meet Air Force Research Laboratory requirements to access Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.Education: Senior undergraduate or graduate student in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or any other related physical science/engineering/technical degree with appropriate experienceComputer Literate: must know how to use computers and software applications. Experienced with Microsoft Excel.Desired:
