These technicians will assist with conducting field surveys for native mussels via snorkel, SNUBA, view buckets, and/or tactile techniques. These positions will require the operation of trucks and trailers, and field sampling equipment in rivers and streams. These are contract positions funded from June 2, 2025 through October 15, 2025. These positions will be based out of Casper, Wyoming. Human Resource Contact: Alice Saldana / alice.saldana2@wyo.gov ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level. + Maintain a positive attitude, and strong work ethic, and be able to work well with others in a team setting. + Work with the public and private landowners and represent the WGFD in a professional manner. + Safely operate sampling equipment. + Safely collect, handle, and identify native mussels. + Compile and enter collected data. Qualifications PREFERENCES: Preference may be given to those pursuing a career in fisheries. Preference may include those with a high school degree plus experience in fish and wildlife resource management, research, or college coursework towards a degree in fishery or wildlife management, ichthyology, hydrology, watershed science, or other closely related fields. **Must have a valid driver’s license. ***Important: Applicants should attach a cover letter and resume with their online state application. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: None - See "Preferences" Necessary Special Requirements PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: + Ability to perform fieldwork under adverse weather conditions. + Irregular schedules with weekend work will be required. + Extensive overnight travel is required as is camping in remote locations.
