Summary About the Position: You will function as a natural resource management staff specialist for a major water resource project. Perform a variety of assignments involving all aspects of project operations, including natural resources, recreation, flood risk management, and navigation. Responsibilities Conduct public relations services for the general public and for special groups. Enforce Title 36 CFR by educating the visiting public on project purposes, conditions, policies, and regulations. Develop and administer the agricultural out-lease program designed to protect and further enhance fish, wildlife, vegetative and water resources. Develop plans for facility improvements which are consistent with current and future demands. Enforce a public safety program for the project, which includes surveillance, and maintenance of buoys, signs, and fences. Assist in developing and implementing specific land use plans for the project. Implement plans for special recreation projects and improvements. Participate in the development of various planning documents, including Master Plans and Operational Management Plans (OMP), for management of the project's man-made and natural resources. In addition to meeting the basic requirement in the education section to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: To qualify at the GS-05 grade level, you must have: Applicants who have a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position are fully qualified for the GS-05 grade level. OR Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience applying basic knowledge of biological practices, principles and techniques in a natural resource management environment, or additional education. To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience utilizing biological practices, principles and techniques sufficient to assist in the recommendations of planning and implementing environmental, recreational and natural resource management activities at a water resources project. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Degree: Successfully completed one full academic year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in B above. OR Degree: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
