NAVWAR Engineer

Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM

Permanent Placement

Support the Joint Navigation Warfare Center (JNWC) by developing and integrating Navigation Warfare (NAVWAR) systems to ensure Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) superiority for the Department of Defense. In this role, you will design and test RF hardware and software solutions, enhance GPS system hardening, and implement electronic warfare (EW) algorithms to mitigate threats and improve operational effectiveness in contested environments.

Responsibilities:

Conduct research and development of multi-function small form factor payloads for NAVWAR missions.Design and analyze RF hardware and software solutions to integrate EW, Communications, and Radar missions into compact payloads.Utilize electronic warfare signal processing algorithms to detect, identify, and counter threats in NAVWAR environments.Develop GPS hardening systems to prevent adversary interference with blue force systems.Investigate heterogeneous sensing concepts across different platforms (e.g., manned, unmanned, high-altitude ISR, ALE) and explore passive sensing modes for improved situational awareness.Reverse engineer existing NAVWAR signal processing solutions to enhance system capabilities.Perform Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) testing on systems vulnerable to PNT/GPS denial and deception.Support technical reviews of vendor hardware and software products, ensuring compliance with client requirements.Design and conduct testing of RF and hardware portions of software-defined radio (SDR) frameworks.Research and implement state-of-the-art signal processing algorithms to strengthen NAVWAR capabilities.Debug, test, and validate NAVWAR capabilities through unit tests and customer scenarios reported by JNWC.Work directly with internal and external customers to integrate solutions into diverse applications and use cases.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.Experience: 3 to 10 years of relevant experience in RF engineering, NAVWAR systems, or Electronic Warfare (EW) solutions.Clearance: Active TS/SCI clearance is required.Leadership: Experience in leadership or management roles in higher-level projects or technical teams.Ability to travel up to 10% for CONUS/OCONUS operations, exercises, and conferences.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional Engineer (PE) License for senior-level roles.Master’s Degree in a related technical field.Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE), software-defined radio (SDR) frameworks, and PNT vulnerability assessments.
