Program Summary
The Marine Corps Prepositioning Program (MCPP) is based in Jacksonville, Florida. We provide maintenance and logistic services to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) in support of this program. For over 35 years we have planned, coordinated, and executed the maintenance and logistic services for ground combat vehicles and support equipment for USMC Expeditionary Forces.
Job Summary
A member of the KBR Repair Support Team (RST) at the Watercraft Maintenance Center (WMC) and the primary technical representative for corrosion control and coating systems for U.S. Navy Improved Navy Lighterage System (INLS) watercraft, Maritime Prepositioning Force – Utility Boat (MPF-UB), and LARC-V amphibious craft.
Roles and Responsibilities
+ Assists the RST Surveyor in performing structural surveys (interior and exterior) to identify damage and/or deterioration of coating systems on steel and aluminum waterborne craft hulls, decks, compartments, hatches, piping, installed equipment, deck fittings and related machinery.
+ Analyzes structural and coatings surveys, U.S. Navy Technical Drawings, technical manuals, NAVSEA Standards, and other technical materials to define scope of coating systems repairs.
+ Assists and provides technical guidance to the RST Planner-Estimator in writing formal work packages that document scope of repairs and system alterations on watercraft.
+ Evaluates subcontractor work proposals for accuracy of technical processes, material requirements, and labor based on experience and a review of historical records.
+ Inspects work performed to ensure compliance with NAVSEA Standards, KBR technical specifications, and time schedules.
+ Coordinates with Government Quality Assurance Representatives (QARs) to schedule and perform quality assurance checkpoints per applicable NAVSEA Standard Work Items.
+ Performs responsibilities as a competent person in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR Standard 1915 for confined/enclosed spaces.
+ Maintains and ensure compliance with ISO-9001 and ISO 14001 procedures and work instructions, administrative policies, and government regulations for quality control.
+ Performs other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
+ AA degree/or course work towards an AA degree in a related discipline. In lieu of degree, a combination of college credits or other formalized training and education, and directly related work experience may be considered.
+ Six (6) years of directly related work experience in U.S. Navy or commercial ship surface preparation and coating systems.
+ In-depth knowledge of National Association of Coatings Engineers (NACE) or Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) for corrosion identification, coating materials, techniques for surface preparation and application, and inspection testing and documentation. Current Coatings Inspector Program (CIP) Level 1 certification preferred.
+ In-depth knowledge of shipyard activities with regards to requirements and resources.
+ Working knowledge of American Bureau of Shipbuilding (ABS) and NAVSEA Standard Items.
+ Ability to interpret specifications, drawings, work orders, technical instructions, and layouts.
+ Must possess the ability to safely utilize ladders, work at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
+ Have intermediate level working knowledge of Microsoft Office software: Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, and Access.
+ Ability to perform assignments requiring application of multiple different and unrelated processes.
+ Ability to work in an environment with exposure to strong odors and fumes from paints, fuels, or chemicals used in the work process.
+ Have strong written and oral communication skills.
+ Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.
+ Must have a current security clearance or be able to obtain a security clearance.
+ U. S. Citizen. Proof required.
