RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
+ The Cybersecurity Specialist will serve as a Qualified Validator (QV, formally Navy Qualified Validator (NQV)) and Technical Writer working closely with the Government Senior QV in the support of Naval Surface Warfare Command in Panama City
+ Monitor and manage risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk)
+ Keep up to date on national and international laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity
+ Apply cybersecurity principles
+ Monitor and be aware of cyber threats and vulnerabilities
+ Analyze Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) requirements to determine
+ applicability to existing systems
+ Read and understand Standard Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and use the information to generate technically sound mitigation statements
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
+ Education: Bachelor's degree preferably in STEM from an accredited institution
+ Five (5) years of experience in DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Information Assurance (IA) security compliance policies, programs, processes, and metrics
+ Experience with the Navy’s Risk Management Framework processes, and timelines
+ Experience with Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) for entry and maintenance of RMF packages
+ Experience with Navy/NAVSEA RMF tools, such as eMASSTER, EvaluateSTIG, and STIGMaster
+ Ability to analyze Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) requirements to determine applicability to existing systems
+ Ability to read and understand Standard Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and use the information to generate technically sound mitigation statements
+ Certification: IAT Level III Certification required such as: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation or a Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Security Leadership Certificate (GSLC)
+ Active Secret Security Clearance.
Responsibilities of this position also include, but are not limited to:
+ Attending mandatory, annual training sessions
+ Providing regular status reports to management summarizing progress, challenges, metrics, and recommendations
+ Collaborating with team members to ensure effective communication and coordination
+ Attending recurring team meetings or huddles
+ Assisting in the development of new initiatives
