Program Summary

The Marine Corps Prepositioning Program (MCPP) is based in Jacksonville, Florida. We provide maintenance and logistic services to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) in support of this program.  For over 35 years we have planned, coordinated, and executed the maintenance and logistic services for ground combat vehicles and support equipment for USMC Expeditionary Forces.

Job Summary

Participates in assuring the operational readiness of equipment in the area of structural repairs (shipfitting) and related subcontract management procedures. Conducts routine tours of subcontractor facilities to monitor and evaluate contractor work progress, to assess technical compliance, and provide recommendations. Conducts review of subcontractors production plans, schedules, controls, and industrial processes and performance. Utilizes technical publications and drawings in support of structural repair of U.S. Navy watercraft and associated equipment. 

Roles and Responsibilities

Plans and performs the successive steps and initiatives in assessing information and identifying, resolving or alerting management to potential problems.Reviews completed work for technical adequacy, conformance to objectives and compatibility with other work products.Possess working knowledge of the instruments, test equipment, tools and reports to diagnose and assess methods of production to ensure contract conformance to contract specifications and NAVSEA Standard Items.Performs root-cause analysis for monitoring and evaluating trends. Provides activity and status reports to management.Complies with ISO-9001/14001 policies and procedures.Performs joint performance reviews with, and maintains professional association with Navy Technical/Quality Assurance representatives

Basic Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Marine Engineering or related discipline. In lieu of a degree, a combination of college credits, other formalized training or education, and directly related work experience may be considered.Minimum of six (6) years shipyard planning and repair experience in U.S. Navy hull and piping systemWorking knowledge of American Bureau of Shipbuilding (ABS), Navy 3M, and related reports.Must have a technical specialization in U. S. Navy or Coast Guard hull and piping systems.Interprets specifications, drawing, work orders, technical instructions, and layouts.Ability to perform assignments requiring application of many different and unrelated processes.Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong training / presentation skills.Ability to use standard commercial word processing, database, and spreadsheet software applications.Familiar with Six Sigma or other process improvement methods Preferred.Ability to comply with all established methods, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position.Ability to work in a regular and recurring environment with exposure to dust, strong odors and fumes from paints,   fuels, or chemicals used in the work process.Ability to work in a regular and recurring environment of enclosed or confined spaces and vertical ladders.U. S. Citizen.
