HDR has an excellent opportunity for a Drinking Water professional to lead the development and growth of our regional Drinking Water practice. We are seeking a proven professional with a strong technical background in water process design and treatment. Our Market Sector Leader will be responsible for leading or contributing to projects through concept, planning, design and construction phases. The ideal candidate would have significant regulatory experience. They will need to be skilled in planning studies, coordinating with sub-consultants and utility owners, preparing preliminary and final design, drawing preparation coordination, developing technical specifications, and performing office and field services during construction. The Market Sector Leader will also be expected to work directly with and mentor professional staff as well as effectively collaborating on client management activities to support our water team.

The Drinking Water Market Sector Leader will also be expected to:

Lead with a positive, can-do attitude and build relationships with HDR peers and staffHave a focus on client management and development, serving as a client manager and project manager for future assignments and pursuits with key clients in the areaIdentify and develop project opportunities, serve as a pursuit champion, and act as a resource for HDR pursuitsDuties may include planning, directing, and monitoring large multi-discipline projects or medium-sized projects with a high degree of technical complexityThe position will be the responsible for assessing the areas marketplace and determining the best business approach to win and secure contracts Collaborate on businessdevelopment efforts with other market sectors as well as other market sectors in other business groups Build trust with clients and serve as Client Manager forselected key clients within the region, and be active and visible in the industryPromote the marketing and delivery of all HDR services to clients while working with our client managersWork with Business Group Managers on development and delivery of area and department market sector initiativesWork with the client development leaders to drive client development and pursuit processes based on proven capture techniquesParticipate in industry associations and serve as a company role-model in business and community organizations. A desire to pursue leadership in these organizations is preferred.Identify key investments (acquisitions and technology) that will maintain or drive HDR into industry leadership positionDevelop relationships with industry counterparts in other consulting organizations.Develop relationships with senior leadership in key client organizationsParticipate actively in drinking water staff development including assisting with the identification and recruitment of prospective future market sector employees in the area and region.Engage and actively support professional development of drinking water staff through mentoring, regular communication, workshare, etc. with goal of producing the next generation of leadership in HDR. Work with the business class directors and practice groups to drive technical excellence and coordinate technical staff to support the program and marketing effortsIdentify opportunities for new and improved technical services and products so as to maximize the depth, effectiveness and efficiency of the practice. Build an understanding of the risk versus benefit of new technologies and how they can affect HDR’s business.Identify resource gaps and support talent management and recruiting. Facilitate cooperation and eliminate hurdles and barriers to successUnderstand HDR financial performance KPIs and help monitor market sector performance indicators including NFE/NFB/profits/positive equity/AR/losses/investmentsWork with area business group leadership to implement process improvements and leverage work sharing to meet or exceed planned goalsBe aware of staff workload and facilitate work sharing within the market sector; promote effective use of company resources and assist in applying key staff/expertise to projectsAssist with contract review on key projects to help ensure risk management, proper staffing, quality reviews and resolution of claimsPromote a Quality environment through leadership in Quality Assurance/Quality Control; work with business class and area leadership to assist the local programs with key technical expertise to support marketing and project activitiesFacilitate development and dissemination of "lessons learned"Take on Project Management Assignments that make sense for this leadership role

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning or a related fieldA minimum of 10 years of industry experienceExperienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering servicesExperienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuitsExperienced in overall staff development to include recruiting, career path and professional growthExperienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sectorAbility to work cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Directors, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers and Area ManagersDemonstrated commitment to HDR values. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
