Hybrid/Remote is allowed. The NCAA Women’s Wrestling Committee is requesting applications from interested individuals to serve as the NCAA Women’s Wrestling National Assignor. The national assignor will select officials based on evaluations, rankings along with any other developed criteria. The national assignor will work with the NCAA Women’s Wrestling Committee. This position is a one-year term, renewable each year. The official term will begin when the hiring process is completed (in a typical year, the term begins September 1). A stipend is paid during the official term.

Reports to: NCAA Women’s Wrestling Committee and NCAA national office staff with responsibilities to the NCAA Women’s Wrestling Committee.

Duties, Requirements and Responsibilities:

a. Maintain a regional and national database of officials;

b. Serve as a liaison in the area of officiating to the Wrestling Committee;

c. Participate in conference calls with Wrestling Committee and NCAA staff;

d. Assign officials (including video review officials if applicable) for all rounds of the NCAA qualifying tournaments and championships, confirm those assignments with the national committee and NCAA staff. Develop a strategy to ensure the pool of officials provides opportunities for a cross section of officials from all experience levels, geographic regions, and is ethnically diverse;

e. Notify officials of their assignments;

f. Monitor that officials selected to work post season are in compliance with the criteria set forth for selection (i.e. working minimum number of NCAA contests, years of experience, test score, clinic attendance, conference coordinator and national evaluator recommendations, etc.);

g. Develop plan to recruit new officials.

h. Communicate travel, contest and meeting times, and lodging arrangements (if necessary) with each official;

i. Provide annual report to committee and NCAA staff;

j. Attendance at annual meeting (if requested); and

k. Travel to the championship final site to evaluate the officials.

l. Other duties as mutually agreed by the national assigner and NCAA staff and/or the NCAA championship committees.

m. Shall not be an active NCAA coach, official, or conference coordinator/assignor.

Preferred Qualifications and Minimum Requirements: 

1.    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

2.    Ability to relate effectively with officials and coaches on a national level.

3.    Extensive knowledge of national, international and national collegiate women’s wrestling rules.

4.    Strong administrative and organizational skills.

5.    Ability to use email as a means of correspondence.

6.    Experience in officiating or coaching at the collegiate level (preferred).

7.    Cannot be an active NCAA women’s wrestling coach or official (required).
