Please note this process follows the BWXT employee guidelines Referral bonus only valid for externally referred applicants Requisition Number: 52192 JOB SUMMARY Onsite lead for Non-Destructive Examination (NDE), performing NDE examination, preparing inspection reports, and writing, reviewing and editing NDE documents and procedures in accordance with contract requirements for Level III review and approval. This position requires CGSB Level II certification in both PT (LPI) and MT (MPI). RESPONSIBILITIES NDE Duties + Perform NDE inspection in-house as part of the Quality Control team. + Lead analysis in resolving NDE technical and quality issues. + Coordinate daily NDE inspection work per schedules and priorities. + Ensure that NDE is performed in accordance with applicable codes and customer specifications. + Ensure technicians are properly trained on assigned work and they are familiar with procedure requirements. + Oversee subcontract NDE activities performed both internally, as well as at sub-contractor facilities. + Prepare in-house procedure and examination technique sheets in accordance with the customer contract requirements, applicable codes and standards for Level III review and approval. + Site representative to review contracts/proposals to evaluate the customer’s NDE needs and determine BWXT PMI capability/compliance and identify required changes. + Review/update all documents to ensure they are current to the applicable codes and standards as revisions are released. + Review and maintain qualifications and certifications records for contract and internal NDE technicians. + Review all documents as required to ensure they are current to ASME/CNSC codes. General Inspection Duties + Inspect and monitor quality requirements in process and accordance with the company quality assurance policies and customer specifications for first-off, in-process, receiving, and final inspection activities. + Perform accurate mechanical, physical and visual inspection of raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies as per control plans and specification requirements. + Verify dimensions of parts using hand precision measuring instruments like vernier calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, height gauges, chamfer gauges, radius gauges, thread gauges and CMM as necessary. + Create comprehensive dimensional reports from CMM data and conventional measuring equipment. + Document and report inspection results and Completed Purchase Orders. File, scan and archive as necessary. + Perform product identification and traceability activities, as required. + Sign off MCS for completed operations you inspected and, if witness was required, work with customer and BWXT PMI Witness to get MCS signed off. + Interpret customer drawings (including geometric tolerances) and technical information packages. + Assess part compliance, initiate NCR and follow through NCR process for disposition and timely closure. + May be required to perform routine calibration and re-certification on various inspection gauging. + Safely move components including the use of lifting devices such as overhead cranes and jib cranes as applicable. + May be required to assist with Quality Surveillance of sub suppliers. Administration : + Follow all company policies and health and safety procedures. + Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times when required + Report any personal workplace injuries to direct supervisor immediately. + Report safety issues to direct supervisor as soon as possible. + Maintains an acceptable level of performance by following established policies and procedures and participate in continuous improvement efforts by supporting and implementing new ideas. + Sets a positive example by maintaining a respectful attitude, cooperating with co-workers, management, and internal and external customers. + Be a productive team member and help meet established departmental and Company goals. + Report to work for your regularly scheduled shifts on time and ready to work. + Effectively give and receive feedback and willingly ask questions and seek direction when needed. + May work any and all shifts/days as required. + Willingly accepts responsibility of sharing skills and knowledge with other employees. + Perform all other duties as may be assigned from time to time. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: + CGSB Level II certification in at least 2 NDE methods; must include both PT & MT. + Technical Diploma in Quality or relevant field or equivalent. + Minimum 3 years’ experience in the NDE field, with the last one year experience as a certified NDE Technician. + Proficiency interpreting complex manufacturing drawings with GDT specifications to determine the appropriate dimensional inspections to establish compliance. + Knowledge of ASME Code, ISO 9001, CSA N285.0 and N299 quality programs is an asset. + Knowledge in the use of appropriate measuring tools and equipment including verniers, calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, height gauges, chamfer gauges, radius gauges, thread gauges, etc. + Ability to solve routine technical problems using variety of systematic approaches. + Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) + Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills working within a team-based environment. + Strong ability to work independently to complete assignments promptly while maintaining the high standards required in our industry. The hourly rate for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $59,000 and $86,000 per hour. The rate offered is based on market location and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
