Position Overview
At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated NDI Inspector to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Responsibilities
-Perform UT inspection using automated inspection systems and handheld techniques to determine acceptability of parts in accordance with applicable specifications.
-Operate automated NDT machinery by using and following established procedures.
-Perform manual mode inspection of components/assemblies utilizing A-scan and/or phased array instrumentation as required to perform NDT inspections for features not suitable to automated equipment.
-Evaluate, and interpret NDT scans of composite materials.
-Complete all records of inspection including rejection reports as applicable accurately and timely.
-Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Minimum Requirements
-Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+1 years' related work experience, 5 years' related work experience, etc.).
-NAS 410: Documented proof of 80 hours classroom training and 1600 hours On-the-Job-Training (OJT) Level II(Qualified/Certified) in a minimum of ultrasonic through-transmission/pulse echo, primarily with composites.
-Requires experience with automated data collection systems including development of part templates; ultra sonic phased array systems and sandwich carbon fiber composite materials.
-Ability to use a standard Desktop (PC) computer and Windows-based tools to produce original documents including sketches, plans, procedure and reports.
-Must be a US Person.
Preferred Requirements
-Minimum five (5) years current experience in non-destructive testing.
-Prior Certifications in liquid penetrant, visual, magnetic particle, and radiographic inspection are desired but notmandatory.
-Experience in non-destructive testing within an AS9100 aerospace manufacturing environment strongly preferred;composite NDT experience in space systems, motorsports, marine or armament will also be considered.
-Prior Certifications in liquid penetrant, visual, magnetic particle, and radiographic inspection are desired but not mandatory.
-Background in Olympus Tomoview analysis software is strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements
-Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE.
-Ability to transport objects up to 35 pounds as well as consistently stoop, crawl, bend, crouch, climb and kneel.
-Able to work flexible schedule, including extended hours and weekends.
-Successful candidate may be required to work any shift – first, second or third.
-Work onsite in Columbus, MS.
-Less than 10% travel requirement, Candidate must be willing to travel between Aurora sites for production support, and as needed for training purposes, with reasonable notice.
Salary Range (Annualized USD)
+ Minimum Range: $45,000.00 to $80,000.00
+ Maximum Range: $53,000.00 to $94,000.00
