NDT Level II Inspector - Per Diem
**Job Title: NDT Level II Inspector** **Job Type & Location** **_This is a Contract position located in Newport News, Virginia._** **Job Description** We are seeking experienced NDT Level II Inspectors proficient in PT (II), VT (II), and MT (II) methods, who have documented qualifications and certifications meeting the Level II requirements as per ASNT's SNT-TC-1A, 2001 Edition or later. The role includes passing general, specific, and practical exams, demonstrating the ability to operate NDT equipment, and analyzing and recording results. Inspectors must also meet vision requirements and have a solid understanding of OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry. **Responsibilities** + Conduct NDT inspections using PT (II), VT (II), and MT (II) methods. + Pass general theory and procedure-specific exams covering basic test principles and specific equipment, operating procedures, and test techniques. + Successfully complete practical exams demonstrating proficiency in operating NDT equipment and analyzing results. + Undergo and pass visual acuity exams using Jaeger 1 letters at a distance of not less than 12 inches, and distinguish between various colors as required. + Maintain a minimum of 4 years of documented continuous experience as a certified inspector in the applicable methods. + Provide current certification documentation, training and experience records, and vision test results for the current and preceding 3-year certification periods. + Perform MT inspections on structural welds, including climbing, crawling, and minor grinding for relevancy checks. + Ensure safety harness and respirator qualifications are current and comply with OSHA regulations. **Essential Skills** + Minimum 4 years of NDT experience in VT and MT methods. + Current Level II certification in VT and MT methods. + Documented training hours and certification in PT (II), VT (II), and MT (II). + Proficiency in operating NDT equipment and analyzing inspection results. + Ability to pass visual acuity and color distinction exams. + Familiarity with OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Safety harness and respirator qualification. + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb vertical ladders, and crawl in tanks and confined spaces. + Comfortable working at heights. + Willingness to work any shift, including weekends and optional 12-hour shifts based on supervisor discretion. **Why Work Here?** Join a dynamic team in the world's largest shipbuilding company, where you will have the opportunity to work on Navy vessels and in a state-of-the-art shop environment. The yard stretches over 5 miles long. Inspectors will work on Navy vessels or in a shop environment, which may involve climbing, crawling, and working in confined spaces. Shifts include 1st shift (7am-3:30pm), 2nd shift (3:30-11pm), and 3rd shift (11pm-7am).
