Position Purpose
The responsible NDT level III position is primarily accountable for ensuring that all aluminum cast product are NDT inspected (fluorescent penetrant and radiography) in accordance with customer specifications and within corporate and aerospace quality standard. The level III candidate shall have technical responsibility and authority for PT and RT NDT operations at Laval, including the certification of all qualified NDT personnel (Level I and II).
Key Results Areas
NO. 1 PRODUCTION PLAN
Verifies that cast product is inspected within pre-established manufacturing costs.
TYPICAL TASKS
Ensures that NDT personnel have the correct material, tools and equipment to effectively accomplish their work activities and schedules. Verifies that all NDT tools and equipment are calibrated and approved for on-going production use Acts as lead process owner for NDT operations for implementation and correction of NDT procedures and methods. Identifies poor quality production issues and initiates corrective actions (internal and external activities). Encourages NDT personnel feedback on all NDT production issues which create improvement opportunities regarding product flow, throughput, and quality.
NO. 2 PERSONNEL SUPERVISION
TYPICAL TASKS
2.1 Provides training, communication, and direction with Activity Instructions and Product Criteria. Ensures all NDT personnel execute work instructions and activities to full compliance
2.2 Provides guidance with NDT personnel on job specific tasks required.
2.3 Ensures that NDT personnel understand their job duties and responsibilities.
2.4 In accordance with NAS-410, ensures that all NDT personnel receive appropriate training and examinations, and acquire adequate experience to successfully be certified and able do their work.
2.5 Acts as NDT technical liaison with customers and corporate.
NO. 3 CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
Stimulates a continuous improvement environment. Influences employees to voluntarily contribute to improvement efforts to provide their internal customer with cast product or NDT processes/methods that adequately meet external customer requirements and specifications.

NO. 4 AUDITS, EQUIPMENT AND CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS
Ensures that all equipment and materials used meet customer requirements and corporate quality standards and expectations. Conducts numerous audits (internal and external) to ensure that customer specifications are met.
TYPICAL TASKS
4.1 Audits and surveys on-going NDT production operations, processes, and personnel for adequacy and compliancy within production scheduling constraints and quality standards
4.2 Audits the performance of Level I’s and Level II’s and takes part in the preparation and execution of their reviews.
4.3 Monitors and ensures that all NDT equipment is properly maintained and calibrated at all times. Assists as necessary in the execution of maintenance tasks on NDT equipment.
NO. 5 NDT INSPECTION
Ensures that all cast products are NDT inspected in accordance with customer’s requirements and corporate quality standards.
TYPICAL TASKS
5.1 Develops x-ray techniques and fluorescent penetrant inspection procedures and instructions.
5.2 Ensures NDT personnel perform inspection to the appropriate accept/reject criteria.
5.3 Works in parallel with manufacturing to ensure the appropriate raw material and supplies are available to support production and quality requirements.
NO. 6 ADMINISTRATION
Ensures that administrative functions are completed effectively within Arconic systems and framework procedures.
TYPICAL TASKS
6.1 Prepares and submits special requisitions to purchasing for tools, material and supplies required by the NDT department and ensures approvals are granted by Manufacturing.
6.2 Ensures NDT personnel properly complete NDT reports, logs, and routers.
6.3 Performs drawing and specification reviews for NDT inspection compliancy.
6.4 Implements Arconic policies and procedures, and monitors adherence to ethics program.
