Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology, Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is recruiting for two (2) 100%-time Neonatologist for an academic position as Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. UT Health Perinatal-Neonatal Program has a robust research program supporting cutting edge investigation, multidisciplinary programs, a well-established long term neurodevelopmental program, Neonatal Nutrition and Milk Bank program, participation in VON, ELSO, and multiple opportunities for NICU QI as well as cardiac QI through NPC-QIC.

The major criteria for appointment for clinical faculty is excellence in clinical care, scholarly activity and service in the area the individual is expected to fulfill.  We are particularly interested in candidates with robust basic/translational research experience during fellowship. A Board-Certified/Eligible Neonatologist is required.

The clinical service is centered in our brand-new Women and Children’s hospital NICU set to open August 2023. This NICU is a Level IV NICU and Level IV maternal delivery service with ~4,000 births/yr.  The NICU is 68 bed NICU composed of a combination of single rooms and 16 open bay beds with additional capacity to expand up to 80+ beds. Clinical services include ECMO, iNO, whole body cooling, HFOV, pediatric surgery, and all pediatric surgical/medical subspecialties.  Teaching of residents, fellows and medical students is an integral part of the job. The selected individual will function as a faculty neonatologist directing medical management of infants in various settings including the delivery room, NICU, special care nurseries, well-baby nurseries, and transport with day/night service.  Currently 3 hospitalists and 11 Neonatal APPs manage 4 teams of high-risk neonates in collaboration with a faculty neonatologist and other members of the health care team including dedicated pharmacists and neonatal dieticians.
