In the Competition Economics team, you will work on high-profile cases conducting theoretical and empirical economic analysis. You will for example develop economic evidence as to whether a tech firm may have abused its market power, quantify the damage possibly caused by a cartel, or accompany the parties to a merger through the review process in front of the European Commission or other competition authorities.
Your typical tasks will include:
Conducting literature and data researchApplying your technical skills and knowledge of economic theory and econometrics from the academic and policy literature to the facts of a caseCleaning, managing and analysing data as well as interpreting the results and translating them for a non-technical audienceAssisting in drafting reports, memoranda and presentationsContributing to the team’s intellectual capital
Additional tasks as Economic Analyst will include supporting the more senior staff in:
Managing people, projects and client relationships
This job is for you if you:
Hold an excellent master’s degree in economics/econometrics, statistics or a closely related field (Research Officer)Hold an excellent master’s degree and have at least two years of experience in an economic consultancy or a competition authority; or hold a PhD (Economic Analyst)Have excellent English and Italian oral and written communication skills, with German being an advantageCan work under tight deadlines and enjoy solving problemsAre familiar with data analysis using Stata and possibly have advanced programming skills in R, Python or MatLabHave relevant work experience and/or are specialised in applied microeconomics, industrial organisation, competition economics or econometrics at university
