Network Analyst
NETWORK ANALYST - This position is located in Calgary, AB   ROLE STATEMENT: Reporting to the Manager, Information Security and Network Services, the Network Analyst will be responsible for providing technical and thought leadership in technologies such as local and wide area networks including SDWAN. Fixed-line voice networks and SIP technologies extending into nontraditional voice platforms such as Microsoft Teams. Scope will include support for firewall and supporting cyber platforms. The Network Analyst will focus on achieving excellence in system uptime and performance, while also being a key contributor in developing a clear roadmap towards automation, orchestration, and hybrid cloud integration that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices and regulatory requirements   We are expanding and looking for an additional Network Analyst to join our IT team!   The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate proficiency in a wide range of traditional infrastructure, with a good understanding of cloud platforms. This role will be looked upon to mentor IT operations members and build business partnerships through a positive, team-focused attitude while exceling in a fast-paced environment.   SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES: A Network Analyst plays a vital role in ensuring the stability, efficiency, and performance of our networks. Some of the key accountabilities are as follows: Innovate and Optimize: Recommend, plan and implement improvements, modifications, or replacements of network infrastructure to keep our systems running smoothly and efficiently. Maintain Connectivity: Oversee the maintenance of all data (production and non-production) and voice (fixed-line) networks, collaborating with third-party telecom providers as needed. Organize and Document: Develop and enforce policies for network asset management, including maintaining an up-to-date inventory, technical documentation, and specifications. Ensure Compliance: Manage adherence to internal policies and external regulations to uphold the highest standards of governance. Facilitate Seamless Transitions: Assist Facilities Management teams with desk relocations, office moves, and physical IS asset repositioning. Troubleshoot and Resolve: Partner with the Service/Help Desk to diagnose and resolve network issues, eliminating performance bottlenecks and ensuring user satisfaction. Support Applications: Collaborate with the Application Support team during patching, maintenance, upgrades, and other application-related activities. Monitor and Enhance: Track system capacity and performance, recommending enhancements to meet evolving network demands and ensure scalability. All-in Contributor: Flex your skills on other tasks and projects that support the team’s goals.   KEY COMPETENCIES: We are seeking a Network Analyst with a strong technical foundation and the expertise to excel in a dynamic environment. Key competencies will include:   Network Infrastructure Management Expert in installing and configuring network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and associated devices. Proficient in inspecting, maintaining, and replacing network cabling, voice/data jacks, and related equipment. Skilled in ensuring seamless IP connectivity for workstations, application servers, and back-end office infrastructure. Advanced Networking Skills Strong understanding of Cloud Networking architecture and configuration, including VNET, NSG, and hybrid cloud environments. Hands-on experience with networking solutions from various vendors, including VPN, VLANs, routing, switching, next generation firewalls, and SD-WAN. Expertise in SIP trunking and Session Border Controller (SBC) communication technologies. Proficiency in load balancing technologies. System Performance and Optimization Skilled in monitoring and testing system performance and delivering detailed performance reports. Competent in virtual appliance maintenance, including risk analysis for upgrades, patching, and optimization in production and non-production environments. Security and Compliance Experience with managing security compliance, including certificate management for secure communications. Familiarity with internal and external regulations and policies, and ability to participate in audits and evidence gathering. Collaboration and Process Improvement Ability to coordinate across IT and business functions to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of systems to meet business demands. Understanding of agile delivery models and capacity planning for effective budgeting and service delivery. Research and Innovation Capable of conducting research on emerging technologies to assess potential business benefits. Support and Escalation Provide support for service desk escalations and assist in troubleshooting complex network issues.   KEY ATTRIBUTES: Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable interacting and working with field, branch, head office staff and senior management. Able to work flexible hours when required to meet critical deadlines. Comfortable in a time-sensitive, project driven, team-based environment. Organized, and able to handle multiple projects and priorities with a high attention to detail Team player with the ability to conduct work with utmost confidentiality and professionalism Thorough knowledge of ITIL processes
