Program Details:
The Defense Enclave Services (DES) contract provides network modernization to Defense Agencies and Field Activities in a partnership with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to deliver a single digital enterprise that establishes a modern infrastructure foundation and unified architecture needed to deliver cohesive combat support capabilities to the warfighter.
The Network Cable Engineer Manager is responsible for leading and managing a team of 10 Network Cable Engineers. This role oversees all aspects of network cabling infrastructure, including planning, design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The manager will ensure the team meets project deadlines, adheres to industry best practices and safety standards, and provides high-quality service to internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of 10 Network Cable Engineers.
Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and address employee concerns.
Set clear goals and objectives for the team and monitor progress.
Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
Ensure employee safety and compliance with all relevant safety regulations.
Plan, schedule, and execute network cabling projects of varying complexity.
Manage project timelines and resources effectively.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Ensure timely and accurate project documentation.
Possess in-depth knowledge of network cabling standards (e.g., TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC).
Stay current on industry trends and technologies related to network cabling.
Provide technical guidance and support to the team.
Troubleshoot complex network cabling issues.
Participate in the design and implementation of new network cabling infrastructure.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers.
Ensure customer satisfaction with network cabling services.
Respond promptly and effectively to customer inquiries and requests.
Manage relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
Negotiate contracts and ensure compliance with service level agreements.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
7+ years of experience in network cabling, including 5+ years in a supervisory or management role.
Strong understanding of network cabling principles, standards, and best practices.
Expertise in fiber optic cabling, copper cabling, and data center cabling.
Knowledge of network infrastructure components (e.g., switches, routers, servers).
Proficiency in using industry-standard cabling tools and test equipment.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Proven ability to motivate and lead teams.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Project management skills (e.g., PMP certification a plus).
Budget management and financial analysis skills.
Customer service orientation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
