We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Network Detection and Response (NDR) Architect to design, implement, and optimize our NDR solutions. This critical role will involve working closely with cybersecurity teams, IT infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders to ensure the organization has advanced threat detection and response capabilities to defend against sophisticated cyber threats.

GI Federal has an exciting opportunity for a Network Detection and Response (NDR) Architect in the context of implementing a NDR solution. In this position you will work with multiple IT disciplines in shaping, executing and sustaining the NES strategy for a shared service platform focused on identifying and mitigating a wide range of cyber risks. You will lead projects for the NES Architecture team to support the client’s mission, priorities, and unique challenges. You will also support the implementation of cyber security COTS offerings focusing on next generation security solutions and technologies.

This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable. You will be required to be in our Fairfax, VA office two days per week.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

• Design and architect scalable NDR solutions tailored to the organization's needs
• Integrate NDR tools with existing security information and event management (SIEM) platforms, endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools, and other security technologies
• Define network telemetry collection strategies to maximize threat visibility
• Lead deployment and configuration of NDR technologies across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments
• Optimize detection and response rules to reduce false positives and enhance threat intelligence
• Ensure seamless integration with automation and orchestration frameworks to improve incident response times
• Develop use cases and detection logic for identifying anomalous behavior, malware, insider threats, and advanced persistent threats
• Collaborate with SOC and threat intelligence teams to refine detection criteria and response playbooks
• Provide technical expertise and mentorship to SOC analysts, engineers, and other IT stakeholders
• Liaise with vendors and partners to evaluate and implement emerging technologies in the NDR space
• Establish best practices and standard operating procedures for NDR tools and processes
• Ensure NDR solutions meet regulatory and compliance requirements
• Provide regular reports and metrics on detection efficacy and response outcomes to executive stakeholders

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• Due to the nature of the contract requirements, US citizenship and successful passing of CGI background check is required prior to beginning work. In addition, candidates must have ability to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD/Public Trust clearance
• Must have minimum of 6+ years of experience in network security, cybersecurity architecture, or a similar role
• Extensive knowledge of network protocols, architecture, and security principles
• Proficiency with industry NDR tools including ExtraHop and Corelight
• Experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, Elastic) and EDR tools (e.g. CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Microsoft Defender)
• Hands-on experience with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and hybrid architectures
• Strong knowledge of threat detection techniques, such as anomaly detection, behavioral analytics, and signature-based methods
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
• Experience documenting technical requirements
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient at multi-tasking and proactive in work responsibilities
• Superior attention to detail
• Passion for providing great customer service

Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
• Understanding of, or direct experience with, the DHS Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation Program (CDM)
• Understanding of federal cybersecurity guidance such as NIST SP 800-37, Guide for Applying the Risk Management Framework to Federal Information Systems: a Security Life Cycle Approach and NIST 800-137, Information Security Continuous Monitoring (ISCM) for Federal Information Systems and Organizations
• Security relevant certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC, CCSP, and CEH
• Knowledge of machine learning/AI integration into embedded systems
• Familiarity with scripting and automation languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and security orchestration, automation, and response (SOAR) tools
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset
• Strong communication and presentation abilities to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments while managing multiple projects

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and license and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $125,500.00 - $271,800.00.
