**Summary:**
Meta is looking for a Optical Network Operations Engineer responsible for the operational support of one of the world’s largest and most complex networks. As a member of this team, you will have a unique opportunity to design, deploy, and maintain an optical DWDM network and be involved in all aspects of networking at Meta.
**Required Skills:**
Network Engineer, Operations & Support, Optical Responsibilities:
1. Monitor Optical Long Haul and Metro networks, and troubleshoot a variety of issues in a timely manner.
2. Perform fault isolation based on the troubleshooting outcome.
3. Coordinate with smart hands and optical equipment manufacturers to resolve issues and restore service.
4. Work cross-functionally and cross-regionally with other optical and network operational support teams.
5. Partner with and escalate to, various Facebook teams in pursuit of restoring service and limiting impact.
6. Manage and escalate critical events while communicating clearly and concisely.
7. Document and optimize operational processes and procedures.
8. Contribute to the creation of monitors, alerts, dashboards and metrics to drive continuous improvements.
9. Identify areas for automation and create or participate in the solution with scripting or coding skills.
10. Support deployment for migrations and augmentations.
11. Partner with audit teams to ensure accurate inventory and documentation.
12. Perform follow the sun oncall duties for all operational pillars.
13. Up to 15% travel.
**Minimum Qualifications:**

14. 5+ years of optical operations experience.
15. Knowledge and experience of DWDM platforms.
16. Knowledge of Fiber-optic technology including cable types, connector types, optic types, and optical transport technologies.
17. Experience in analyzing situations, troubleshooting, systems and tools, and problem solving.
18. Documentation and communication experience.
19. Knowledge of DWDM transport/transmission networks as well as transceivers.
20. Knowledge with the Network Management system (NMS), Element Management system (EMS) and CLI interfaces of different optical vendor platforms.
21. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

22. 3+ years of relevant work experience in a large-scale production network environment.
23. Knowledge of multiple vendor DWDM equipment.
24. Experience in Subsea Operations, Deployments, and Technology.
25. Experience managing and operating wet plant including BU’s, WSS ROADMs and Repeaters.
**Public Compensation:**
$50.96/hour to $156,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
