**Summary:**
Meta is looking for a Network Engineer who will be responsible for supporting deployments and migrations on one of the world’s largest and most complex networks. As a member of this team, you will have a unique opportunity to be involved in projects related to planning, implementation & scaling of the Meta optical, backbone and edge network. The ideal candidate is an engineer who is capable working in a fast-paced environment and constantly evolving network. A quick learner, proactive, and highly motivated engineer that is not afraid to challenge the status quo, with a proven record of implementing novel solutions and workarounds for day-to-day problems. As a Network Engineer, you are not afraid to propose new ideas, gather constructive feedback from others, and push forward to make these ideas a reality.
**Required Skills:**
Network Engineer, Optical Deployment Responsibilities:
1. Represent the Global Optical Deployment team in major initiatives to build infrastructure to support AI and content rich network requirements
2. Develop vendor performance management for both field and deployment support vendors to ensure we have an efficient and resilient team to support network growth requirements
3. Work closely with cross functional teams from Network Investments, Backbone Engineering and Logistics to drive initiatives to increase the velocity of network deployments
4. Support build activities including design, build, configuration, and migration in large-scale production optical network that spans longhaul terrestrial, regional metros, and subsea networks. Interconnecting Data Centers and Point of Presence (POP) sites across North and South America
5. Plan, schedule and perform complex optical and backbone network deployments and migrations
6. Maintain standards for all builds and design packages for metro, regional and long-haul DWDM rings/systems
7. Generate implementation plans and provide technical leadership and guidance during deployment activities
8. Review and maintain acceptance documents provided by vendors and subcontractors deploying equipment on our network
9. Provide technical expertise to network provisioning engineers for troubleshooting out-of-service or faulty circuits
10. Proactively contribute to documentation, automation and processes as they evolve
11. Drive problem management initiatives to solve complex issues that span multiple organizations. Initiatives exist globally across technical infrastructure reliability, policy, security, compliance, and business strategy
12. Support multiple stakeholder organizations by understanding, anticipating, and influencing business outcomes. Exhibit proactive communication and think with a product and customer mindset
13. Help drive and align on workflow management tooling requirements - efficiency and automation roadmaps
14. Leverage a data driven approach to influence business and network health metrics
15. 10% of travel required
**Minimum Qualifications:**

16. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
17. Demonstrated hands-on experience deploying and migrating optical networks
18. Experience with optical network design, installation and maintenance for service providers or enterprise networks
19. Knowledge of optical theory, transport technologies and the operation of optical transport systems
20. Experience with field-based work in POPs, carrier hotels, data centers and Central Office environments
21. Experience with optical test equipment and optical troubleshooting experience using OTDR, OSA, BERT and optical power meters
22. Experience creating rack elevations and other planned/install/as-built documentation
23. Experience analyzing situations, utilizing systems, tools and troubleshooting experience to resolve technical issues
24. Knowledge of data center design and operational best practices
25. Time management and organization experience
26. Experience working in a global team environment

**Public Compensation:**
$161,000/year to $225,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
