Position Summary:
The position is for a Network Engineer. Reporting to the Infrastructure Manager, the Network Engineer is responsible for investigating and correcting connectivity issues, designing and maintaining communications infrastructure solutions, monitoring system activity and implementing continuous improvement standards on all systems. This position has no direct reports and works under general supervision.
A successful candidate for the job will demonstrate an ability to deploy, configure, support and document primarily Cisco network infrastructure equipment, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points as well as servers running VMware ESXI and Windows server 2008 - 2019. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the existing network and server infrastructure as well as configuring and supporting any new infrastructure required for any new projects.
Responsibilities include:
Works with global team to manage network and data center design across plants and data centers, overseeing improvements and changes.
Manage the LAN equipment and monitoring/troubleshooting the managed WAN environment to provide as much information as possible to headquarters for additional investigation.
Continue to evaluate current hardware/software solutions and provide guidance and support on upgrade pathing.
Responds to escalated trouble tickets that involve hardware, software, and communications problems.
Support critical systems after hours, nights and weekends and respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis. On-call rotation required.
Implement changes on systems required by other IT teams to facilitate production or projects systems.
Resolves level 2 Service Now tickets, including root cause analysis, automation, and documentation.
Upgrades, installs, and configures new or existing facility and data center equipment.
Tests, implements, and documents communications infrastructure solutions.
Acts as a technical resource for internal and external support personnel, operations groups and/or vendors to affect solutions.
Implements corrective actions for remote sites or guides users through corrective action.
Some travel required to facilitate network equipment installations and support of other teams (such as a Network Equipment rollout).
Key Characteristics:
Good analytical and troubleshooting skills is a must.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Extensive experience with Windows Server environments as well as VMware ESXI.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work, learn and teach in a fast-paced, support environment.
Willingness to expand knowledge base to areas such as storage or databasing.
Qualifications and Education:
BS in Information Technology, MIS or related technical degree or equivalent work experience.
Cisco CCNP certification required.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years enterprise experience Windows Servers and virtualization (VMWare, Hyper-V).
Minimum 3-5 years enterprise experience with Cisco hardware.
Demonstrated experience with networking equipment and troubleshooting.
Minimum 3 years experience working with network equipment (switches, hubs, server and blade infrastructure) and desktops in a corporate environment.
Experience with AWS Cloud data center.
