Title: Network Engineer
Location: Independence, MO

Salary: $85,860 - $129,480
Schedule: 9/80, 100% on-site position

Focus: The Network Engineer is responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting the plant's network infrastructure.  Responsibilities will include maintaining network hardware and software, monitoring network performance, and troubleshooting issues to ensure minimal downtime. Additionally, they will collaborate with other IT professionals to develop and implement network growth and security measures.

Network Engineer Essential Job Functions:

Design, deploy, and maintain network infrastructure, including Cisco Nexus switches, routers, Catalyst switches, and wireless solutions. Implement and manage Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols, with a strong emphasis on BGP routing.  Oversee the configuration and management of Cisco wireless controllers and access points to ensure optimal performance and coverage. Utilize SolarWinds and other network monitoring tools to proactively monitor network performance, identify issues and implement solutions. Troubleshoot complex network problems, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum network availability. Lead and manage small to large-scale network projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and alignment with business objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects that meet or exceed stakeholder expectations. Manage and maintain Layer 1 cabling infrastructure, including both copper and fiber optic cables. Ensure adherence to best practices in cable management, including labeling, documentation, and physical organization. Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and change logs. Provide regular reports on network performance, project status, and other relevant metrics to senior management. Network Engineer Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED equivalent; BSC/BA* in computer science, computer engineering or IT related field preferred. Minimum 5 years’ networking experience, with a focus on Cisco Technologies. Proven experience with Cisco Nexus switches, Cisco routers, Catalyst switches, and Cisco wireless controllers and access points. Experience managing small to large-scale network projects from planning through execution. Hands-on experience with SolarWinds or similar network monitoring tools. In-depth knowledge of Layer 2 switching technologies (VLANs, STP, etc.). Proficient in Layer 1 cable management, including copper and fiber optic cabling. Familiarity with network security best practices and technologies. Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as organizational and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills. Availability for occasional on-call work and the ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as necessary to support the network infrastructure. Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance. Network Engineer Preferred Requirements: Expertise in OSI Layer 3 routing. Active Cisco certifications such as CCENT, CCNA or CCNP are strongly preferred. Technical expertise in IT construction standards and compliance.

Location-Specific Requirements: 

Valid driver's license. This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required. This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. To meet the government-facility requirements, the candidate must be a US citizen.
