Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for engaging in the design, development, testing, and evaluation of network communication technologies, products, and solutions.

ResponsibilitiesServe as a technical member on projects that contain moderate to highly complex environments, utilizing high availability concepts.Develop and implement project plans within budgetary, schedule, and resource constraints.Collaborate with other members of the Engineering team in the development of technical design solutions.Capture, analyze, decompose, and create requirements for network systems, products, and subsystems of moderate complexity.Use an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on customer needs and business requirements, to design, develop, document, test, and maintain network systems ranging from the straightforward to moderately complex.Author, review, and maintain documentation during all phases of the system design life cycle as appropriate and specified within documented processes and procedures (Project Plans, Estimates, Requirements Documentation, Operational Scenarios, Design Documentation and Drawings, System Acceptance Test Plans, etc.).Apply Security/Cybersecurity methodologies to network and systems design to provide secure services that support business requirements.Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS, ACL).Provide post-fielding support, resolving operational issues involving L2 and L3, in a multi-routing network infrastructure.Essential SkillsNetwork DesignSDLCWAN developmentConfigurationCisco experienceSTEM Degree with 3 years of industry experienceAbility to clearly depict and convey understanding of technical design using a wide range of design notations and artifactsExperience providing solutions and implementing infrastructures requiring 100% availability, near zero latency, low jitter, and response timesUnderstanding of IP Networks, security, and network management conceptsTCP/IP: Basic understanding of the TCP three-way handshake, IPv4, VLSM, IPv6 address format, and differences between UDP and TCPOSI model: Understanding of layers L1 - L7Routing: Basic understanding of BGP, iBGP vs eBGP, and configuration workflow; OSPF network types and LSA types 1 – 8L2 Switching: VLANs configuration, STP order of operation, and 802.1Q trunk portsTunneling/Encapsulation mechanisms: Configuring point-to-point or point-to-multi-point GRE tunnelsVPN: Setting up/configuring site-to-site IPSec VPN and basic understanding of DMVPNTroubleshooting: Understanding of fiber optics, optic modules, RJ-45, and L3 packet and protocol inspectionWiresharkTCPDUMPSetting up a monitor session (SPAN)Requirements DesignActive CCNA or CCNP certificationAdditional Skills & QualificationsUnderstanding of formal configuration management processesWorking knowledge of automation and configuration management leveraging tools such as AnsibleUnderstanding of project life cycle support, including requirements development, analysis, design, test, implementation, and post-fielding supportKnowledge of VoIP Telephony and SIP with experience in voice network designAbility to take the initiative in driving technical discussionsKnowledge of the Airport and Air Transport Industry domain is desirableCompTIA Network+, JNCIA, PCNSE certificationsWork Environment

The position requires working 3 days a week onsite in Annapolis, MD. The role involves working on high reliability, worldwide aviation communication networks supporting millions of lives daily.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00
