BWX Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a Network Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA location!

 

The Network Engineer will be required to provide evening and weekend support and maintenance, as well as travel to sites as required.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Collaborates with IT Infrastructure, Cyber and Application teams to configure and troubleshoot the network infrastructure. Provides day-to-day support of network and application environments including port configuration and cabling. Leads the patching and asset management of all network equipment on multiple networks. Monitors and logs issues and outages for network team across four different networks. Works closely with other network infrastructure engineers to evaluate current and new technology and improve all aspects of the infrastructure. Works together with senior team members to analyze business requirements, and design, implement, and manage an effective (WAN/LAN) network that supports the commercial and classified networks. Maintains documentation of network closets and cable plant at the NOG Barberton, Euclid, and Mt. Vernon facilities. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A minimum of five (5) years of overall IT experience with three (3) years of network experience. CCNA certification. In-depth understanding of Data Center networking technology and a highly available architecture. Previous experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices. In-depth understand of network infrastructure security technologies and best practices, including, Router/Switch security, Firewall Management, protecting edge perimeter network devices, IDS/IPS, segmentation experience and understanding security logging for monitoring and incident response. Excellent working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and network services, including Cisco switches, NEXUS switches, Fortigate and ASA firewalls. Experience with network management, performance monitoring, network monitoring, inventory, and backup tool software experience. Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits, packet capturing, and protocol analysis experience. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to solve complex, high-pressure issues and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong customer service orientation. Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

CCNP, CCDA/CCDP, CCSP certifications are preferred. Microsoft server related certification(s) are a plus.

 

Pay: $64,000 - $101,000

 

The base salary range for this position in VA at the start of employment is expected to be between $64,000 and $101,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.  The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
