OVERVIEW
Network Administrators manage the day-to-day aspects of the corporate computing infrastructure including: routers, switches, firewalls and wireless access points. They also monitor the network infrastructure to ensure compliance with the companys network security policies. Additionally, Network Administrators identify and participate in projects to improve and advance the company infrastructure.
JOB DUTIESConducts research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts (Essential)Implements network architectures, including LANs/WANs, LAN Internetworking, and connections with the WAN environment (Essential)Provides escalation support for network-related issues (Essential)Establishes checklists and escalation systems to ensure new offices and team members are set-up with the proper equipment, applications and networks to open smoothly and without interruption (Essential)Provides first and second level technical support to users concerning network system operations (Essential)Travels to client sites to perform technology site surveys as needed, and installs and configures small office LANsOther duties as assignedDiagnoses problems with network equipment and performs equipment repair or upgrades when appropriateInstalls, configures, and maintains network cabling and other networking equipment, such as routers, switches, and UPSParticipates in disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testingEstablishes network users, user environments, directories, and security for networksImplements and maintains backup and recovery procedures and services for WAN/LAN equipment and configurationsProvides on-call and after-hours support as neededMaintains public DNS records and domain registration as well as ensuring the integrity and efficiency of our domain operationsMonitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput and latency) and test for weaknessesSet up user accounts, permissions and passwordsEnsure network security and connectivity are maintained at all times
REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (Required)2 years administering and managing network router and switches6 months experience with working in a disseminated network environment6 months experience with API scripting2 years experience w/ firewalls, internet, VPN's remote implementation, troubleshooting & problem resolutionProfessional Certification (e.g. CCNP, CCIE, ECMS)Strong organizational and multitasking skillsAbility to work independently, as well as part of a teamFlexibility to work evenings and weekends as neededDemonstrated ability to balance and organize multiple projects simultaneouslyAbility to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devicesAbility to create network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systemsWorking knowledge of Cisco, Meraki, and Fortinet hardwareThorough knowledge of technical hardware, software and standards of networking to include router/switching technology (e.g. BGP/OSPF, Ports, Subnetting, Layer3 switching, etc.) to also include LAN, WLAN, WAN, WWAN technologies and standardsHands-on experience with monitoring , network diagnostic and network analytic tools. (e.g PingPlotter, WireShark, etc.)Strong understanding of DMARC, SPF record implementation as well as DNS settings for domains such as A, CNAME, ANAME, HTTP Redirect, TXT and NS records
