Network Engineer

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to maintain and enhance their network infrastructure, including WAN, LAN, WLAN, VPN, and security systems. This critical role involves designing, implementing, and managing network components to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will bring excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to identify and resolve issues while maximizing the value of IT investments.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and resolve issues with routers, switches, wireless controllers, access points, firewalls, and related network devices.

Develop, implement, and maintain security protocols for wireless authentication, intrusion detection, antivirus software, email filtering, and internet security.

Lead and contribute to significant network improvement initiatives across the company.

Ensure compliance with security policies, licensing agreements, and configuration standards for all network devices.

Mentor junior IT team members and provide guidance on network administration tasks.

Support cross-departmental projects and assist in training sessions or presentations as needed.

Foster internal and external relationships to ensure project success.

Create and refine best practices and tools for network and project management.

Required Qualifications

Proficient in Cisco Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies.

Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent, with three years of hands-on experience, or a technical certification with five years of relevant experience.

Expertise in network devices, including routers, switches, access points, and firewalls.

Solid understanding of subnets, VLANs, routing protocols, and network design.

Familiarity with VPN, web filtering, and cloud-based solutions.

Basic proficiency in troubleshooting end-user hardware and software.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).

Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and implementation.

Experience with IT support tools like Remedy, ManageEngine, or ServiceNow.

Knowledge of mobile technologies, including smartphones and tablets.

Background in phone systems, such as Avaya or Cisco.
